Hello To All!
I asked: What will my life be like 1 year from now? 56 .4.6. > 15
Lines 4 & 6, especially 6...YIKES!!!

Then, I asked, for guidance about line 56 .6./ What must I do to keep in balance with
The Tao? 21 .4.5. > 42

All Thoughts Welcomed:bows:

Hex 56.4 it seems to say that you have reduced your needs and become more practical in the way that you live. It could also suggest that you have found yourself a new place to live by then but you will not find life easy, so I would imagine that your financial woes will still be with you.

Hex 56.6 this is a warning not to forget that you have problems that will need your attention now and in the future, so whatever you do, don't get careless or you will indeed lose something.

Hex 15 says to be yourself, and to keep to the simple way of life, don't try to fly to high then you will achieve some, maybe a lot, of financial success.

Hex 21.4,5 > 42 basically this says that there will be problems to overcome in the future, so you have to keep going and be strong, life is not going to go easy on you for a while yet, you are going to have to work hard.
Hex 42 says that your efforts will be rewarded.

A year from now you will be The Wanderer. You will be going from one thing to another. Confusion is usually associated with this hexagram too.

Line 4 means that even though there is some gain, it will not the kind that you find particularly fulfilling. You will still feel a lack, a need for something else, or you will still need more of something.

Line 6 is very interesting. It means that what you have been using as your foundation changes into something else.

Hexagram 15, Modesty, means that you will have to find a new balance, a new frame of reference, a new basis for integrating things. You can see here how Hexagram 15 precisely reflects the information of Line 6 in the previous hexagram.

Hmmm. This divination is not telling you what your situation willl be a year from now. I think it is telling you that you will have to discover that information in a different way. I will give it a go with my own I Ching, but first I will look at your next divination.

You next asked for an expanded explanation of moving line 6, the one telling you that you will be using a different foundation of some kind. You got Hexagram 21, Biting Through. Biting Through means union. This means that you will definitely be figuring out what that new foundation or frame of reference of yours should be.

Moving line 4 indicates that figuring it out will be a challenge for you.

Moving line 5 indicates that when you do figure it out, you will benefit big time.

Your concluding hexagram is 42, Increase, which basically tells you the same thing as moving line 5 of the previous hexagram.

I will now use my own I Ching to help you out, but instead of asking what your situation will be a year from now, I will ask what your new foundation or new way of doing things should be.

Using my own I Ching, which I remind you bears little resemblance to the traditional I Ching, I got 7: 5>27.

Hexagram 7: You go from one thing to another.
Moving line 5: You achieve harmony, balance, and control.
Hexagram 29: You triumph, emerge victorious.

I have found that if you create a new hexagram by adding lines 1,2, and 3 of the first hexagram with lines 4, 5, and 6 of the concluding hexagram, the new hexagram will in every case serve as a flawless overview of the divination. So, by creating a new hexagram by adding lines 1, 2, and 3 of Hexagram 7 with with lines 4, 5, and 6 of Hexagram 29, it produces Hexagram 27.

Hexagram 27: You do not understand something.

Now, let's look at the whole thing. Hexagram 7 tells you that you need to go from one thing to another, that you need to change from one foundation or point of reference to another. When you do so, you will create new harmony, balance, and control in your life. Hexagram 29 assures you that you do indeed figure out for yourself what needs to be done, and that you do make the necessary change.

Hexagram 27, the one providing the overview, tells you that whatever possibilities you are thinking of at this moment are not the right ones. You will need to think some more about this before you are able to understand it correctly.

Correction.

For the divination I just did, I added lines 2, 3, and 4 of the first hexagram with lines 3, 4, and 5 of the concluding hexagram. I also create overview hexagrams by adding lines 1, 2, and 3 of the first hexagram with lines 3, 4, and 5 of the concluding hexagram, but that will not work here because there has to be at least one moving in each trigram to create that particular overview hexagram.

You and I are in accord on this one, Jim...There are alot of things I don't
understand! I appreciate you're helping me ask productive questions so that I will get
to the root answers. The 2 questions I just posed:

1) What do I need to clarify and understand about my present choices and perspective?
27 .1. > 23

2) What will be my new foundation/point-of-reference/new way of being? 7
Part of Karcher's 7: ...The ideal of this army is to serve, to bring order and protect
people who cannot protect themselves...
This made me think of work I do want to start, which is helping to get cities more
funding for special-needs children. I think, also, my readings in my Caring for My
Daughter thread might be pointing in this direction as well. Perhaps I'm finally getting
somewhere!:) Once again, I thank you and look forward to your further insights.
All The Best,
Peace

Well, you got Providing Nourishment, which is exactly the matter you asked about. How to best do so is the question. "Perseverance brings good fortune." "Pay heed to the providing of nourishment and to what a man seeks." "Thus the superior man is careful of his words.."

This hexagram seems to be just repeating your question rather than providing any new information. On the other hand, maybe it is telling you that for you to discover the answer, you will first need to ask the right question.

Moving line 2 describes a situation in which someone can seek nourishment from his or her peer, but who instead seeks nourishment from another source. This moving line goes on to explain that seeking nourishment from this other source is the wrong thing to do.

Hexagram 23 seems to be telling you the same thing that moving line 2 did in Hexagram 27, that you need to part company with one source, and replace it with another source.

You are getting warmer.

If I understand you correctly, to answer your next question you used one of Karcher's books. In order for me to comment on it, I would have to know which Karcher book. I have several of his books, but not all of them. Also, I have just moved from North Carolina to Kentucky, and I still have two rooms in my new home filled with unpacked boxes, most of them being boxes of books. I have found some of my I Ching books, but most of them are in one of those two rooms somewhere. I no longer have need of those books for my own use since I use my own system now. It would take me hours to hunt through those boxes for my Karcher books, but, if you are really desperate, I could.

Please don't go to all that trouble. I'm not in dire need.:)
I got 7 in Karcher's "How To Use The I Ching...A Guide To Working With The Oracle Of
Change" 1997, Pages 66-67, paperback.

I also use online Wilhelms, Bradfords and any other sites I find. I find them all useful and enlightening.
You must be seriously busy now with your move! I hope you enjoy your new home. :)
I will consult again to further delve into 27 and let you know what I come up with.
Best Regards,
Peace

Now, to further clarify 27 .1. > 23 and particularly 27 of this issue, I asked:
Please provide guidance on 27 .1. > 23...My present choices and perspective.
I received: 22 .3.5.6. > 3 which seems to point me in a positive direction towards
understanding my current concerns.
Best Regards and I will keep you posted.

My understanding of Wilhelm's hexagram 22 is that extraordinary situations require extraordinary solutions.

Moving line 3 says to hang in there.

Moving line 5 says that you might make a few wrong turns at first, but you eventually figure it out.

The top line says that you do indeed get it figured out.

Hexagram 3 says the same thing as the preceding, that you do master what has been difficult in the beginning.

Sounds good to me!

Hi. I just read your private message. There are never any limits to any questions you can ask me to help you with. Over the years I have done lots of divinations for lots of people, and I doubt that you can think of anything that I have not been asked about at least a few times. With women, believe it or not, one favorite subject seems to be having affairs. You would be amazed. Men hardly ever ask me questions like that. Anyway, your divination does not involve your having an affair, not just yet anyway.

Okay, so your question involved your wondering how someone would react to something you might bring up in the future. You got Hexagram 56, The Wanderer, which can usually be interpreted as wandering around from place to place in some confusion. Feeling uprooted, and all that. But, it promises success through smallness. Perhaps it is not answering your question, but is simply telling you to take this thing in baby steps for the time being. Don't worry about that person's reaction just now, in other words.

The fifth moving line, the one about shooting a pheasant is another way of telling you that you hit the bull's-eye. In other words, this future conversation you asked about is precisely what you will be doing. And, what you want is what you get. Things work out.

The sixth moving line tells you that you will be leaving your nest. Concerning this particular situation, your conversation will result in your making new accomodations for yourself.

Hexagram 31 is interesting! Hmmmm. All I can tell you is that whatever follows will follow quickly, and that you will like it.

It seems I've come full circle in this thread: From 56 .4.6. > 15 to
56 .5.6. > 31.........It seems that "burning one's nest" is sometimes necessary - And
not necessarily a bad thing!:bows:
As Always, Jim, I Thank You for your insights.
