How will it benefit me to return to Bal

Hex 11.1.2>15

Looks to me my time there is over.

How will it benefit me to take the time to settle into this area

Hex 6.3.5.6>32

Not so sure about this reading except the permanence of Hex 32.
The guy I'm living with until I work out what I want to do is an extremely difficult person who lives in conflict within himself and whoever else wants to argue with him. This is sorta why I asked maybe I should return to Bal.
So far I appear to have won the 'battle' in which I don't really want to partake in but have had to make a stand which is in keeping with lines 3 and 5.
Line 6 concerns me though.

thanks, Liss

oh dear I tried to talk with him about what was a fair rent and it turned into - you guessed it - conflict! Looks like I maybe heading back cause it's very hard to get rental accommodation around here.

Hi Liss,

not sure why you say that 11.1,2 > 15 is a no in response to your query about returning to Bal (which I assume is a place?).

From Edwald Berkers' translation:

Line 1:
Pulling out grass with entangled roots, because it has accumulated.
Going brings good fortune.

Removing something that has accumulated and is now in the way, weeding it out by the root. Under the surface, things may be more entangled than one thought. One can move on and things will go well.

Line 2:
Barren surroundings necessitate fording the big river.
Not abandoning, but letting go of friends.
Value is lost and gained from targeted action.

One needs to move elsewhere, as something essential is not available anymore. It may be necessary to let go off friends, which is not the same as abandoning them. One needs to really go for it, in order to make valuable gains, accepting that this also results in losses (that which is left behind).

Couldn't possibly be more literal than this!

I think 11> 15 is suggesting that if you do move back, you should do it for the right reasons, not out of a fit of pique.

Then 6 > 32 would suggest to me that you are trying to argue in favour of staying permanently where you are because perhaps "the right" is on your side. But the changing lines of 6 tell me that even though you may have the moral right on your side, the fact that your actual purpose is not to be where you are and that people you are dealing with are not the right people all mean that after all the effort and small victories, you will still find yourself in a unfavourable position (leather belt snatched away three times)

If I were you, I would think very hard about what kind of life you want to live and then were is the best place to live it. If that place is Bal, then go back there as if you are going to a new place, not as if you are returning to an old place.

Good luck!

Precision Grace - you are totally right! I just wanted it to be different to the readings so that's how I interpreted it.
Overnight I've thought about not getting much sleep and also thought I should return to Bal with a different attitude - yes Bal is a place.
Thanks for taking the time to help me

(1) How will it benefit me to return to Bal => Hex 11.1.2>15
For Hex 11, the upper trigram is Kun(stands for woman), the lower trigram is Qian(stands for man), which means that a woman is higher than a man. So every time when you quarrel with him, you should think if you make demands on him that are too great. Hex 15 means that if you can be more modest, that would be better.
(2) How will it benefit me to take the time to settle into this area => Hex 6.3.5.6>32
Hex 6 means that you often have a quarrel with him. But the change hex, hex 31 shows that if you take the time to settle into this area, you will be live together for a long time! So why not have a try?

I Ching contains two part: Hex.1 to Hex.30 is part 1, which mainly talks about the natural world; Hex.31 to Hex.64 is part 2, which mainly talks about the human world.
Hex.1 stands for heaven, Hex.2 stands for earth, so I Ching shows that the heaven & earth are the beginning of the natural world.
Hex.31 stands for love, Hex.32 stands for marriage, I Ching shows that the love & marriage are the beginning of the human world. Hex. 32 also has a meaning of getting together for a long time.
So according to I Ching, the answer to your hexagram is very clear. Why not cool down and think over, then you could make a better choice.

Oh gosh the man is mentally and emotionally abusive with pent up anger coming out of his ears! I'm not the only one that thinks this or has felt this from him - he has a long list of people that he hates, has a police order out on him to not come close to a particular man he used to be friends with. He tailgates cars, he fights with whoever he can get riled up - he is never wrong (according to him), he never listens because he's so busy mouthing off and I have absolutely zero interest in trying to maintain any sort of friendship with him.

Anyway, don't make decisions when you're angry, and don't make promises when you're happy.
Best wishes for you.

Thank for the best wishes xuesongyu. I walked away and feel so good about it. I wasn't angry just felt a little vulnerable. - Liss

In my opinion this interpretation quite skewed, male-centric if you will. It assumes the question is about your relationship with X rather than a query about how things might be if you return to Bal, not at all the same. It also seems to assume that you need to submit to this guy's arrogance and abuse.

Indeed it does read like that Rinda - I have to admit I was quite taken aback when I read it.

The principle works but the application went askew. Earth submits to heaven, or one could say earth is your submission to your spirit (earth above sinks by gravity - heaven below rises by levity), resulting in being pulled up from where you were, like sod, not regarding your companion, you forded the river with resolve, thus creating a harmonious balance in your life.

Hello, Liss, I'm a little late but if it was mine reading I'd see it as a decision about retreat because I feel subordinate and not equal. 11.1 things will go the way one wants, 11.2 shows some ups and downs when one is following their path step by step (probably because one's resources are limited) and could feel a little lonely but everything will turn out just fine. Imo ;)

Thanks kafuka that makes sense too now I've been back for about 4 days.
I've come back with a different attitude about a number of things particularly because on my trip back it became a journey of resolution - one with a place I felt I couldn't return to because of the memories I had there of my now exhusband. What I found was not those memories so much but the return of two very wonderful friendships who are now supporting me to hopefully return to that town to live.
Yes there are ups and downs with me being back in Bal and I am particularly lonely as I've never connected with anyone here and don't feel it's the right place for me to be living - well I've felt that since I moved here 4 months ago but it's the only place offering me a roof over my head. - Liss
