Hey everyone, Happy overguzzling and all that- hope everyones keeping things together!

quick question about an answer i've drawn about tonight. I'm going to a party and was just asking yi what i should be aware of about the evening. I havent seen these peope in a few months as ive been out of town at university, and theres definitely some silly social intrigues which i'm hoping have waned since i last saw all of them.

11,1,5,>48

48 in this context i think literally means the area were people gather ( the well doesnt come to you, you go to the well etc) and obviously, 11 seems like a nice hex to draw for an evening out.

I've been reading through my translations and I have a few questions about the changing lines:

line 1:

Karcher has it that 'its about time you got this great enterprise going, find the people you truly belong with. Does anyone know where this idea comes from with this line -ribbon grass-each of its own kind - yeah, I can get the analogy- but other translations i've been looking at suggest a lot of humility is needed here.

line 5:

considered one of the most 'auspicious lines' in the I Chings repertoir- ok- initial fleetng feelings of everythings gonna come out roses...but again, this di yi marrying his daughter 'sideways' , not 'upwards-- again- is this line saying i better not get too full of myself, that i somehow have to be humble with these people? Decrease expectations? Other people say its not a culmination but a moment before culmination, patience needed.

Maybe i've been reading too much on the yi, but lately all i'm seeing is patience, humility and stop listening to egoic thoughts with every line i get!

also,

am i jut reading way to much into this?!

thanks as always

Yx

Renew relationships and enjoy the liquid refreshments. Line 1, well, I pull weeds out of the lawn today. Maybe you'll do some social weeding. Line 5, you'll be a bridesmaid this year. Not a very serious reply, but 'Tis the season to be jolly :) Enjoy the party!

Maybe line 11.5 means that the other women at the party wore more opulent jewels or more elaborate outfits. That by comparison you looked like you didn't have much money.

Please come back to this thread and say what happened!

Not to go into any detail here, as I don't think you have to worry about it too much. Hexagram 48 just tells me to be careful about getting drunk. (You might get married while you are passed out.)

heehee :) Social weedings aplenty last night! and actually, karchers line 'find the people you should be with' rang true- lots of movement and smalltalk- picking up tidbits here and there, moving from the centre to the outskirts and back again with no obligation on my time. Not being stuck at a party talking to the people i didnt want to talk to! it was quite refreshing. The word Balance seems to come to mind. As far as being a bridesmaid this year - hm! i doubt it very much- not with my hairy bunch of hippes and drifters anyway! The thoughts of settling down are far from their minds i wager :)

twas gale force and rainy last night! my sense of 'style' went out the window - wore my wetproofs and 'batten down the hatches' cap--certainly wasnt outshining anyone! Line 5 though i'm not sure how it applied-- not to toot my own horn so to speak, but i get a good bit of atttention from the opposite sex, and that hadnt changed last night! as far as being remotely attracted to any of those guys-it would be like revisiting all my old boyfriends and replaying it all out of boredom, so not sure about line 5 at all at all!

I did play chaperone for a minute or two to my dear good friend though. I do tend to get terribly protective of her! I think, in this case, maybe i was channeling Di Yi here: not the marriagable bride, but the father that gives his daughter away :)

'didnt have much money' actually did pan out- I had to cut the evening short withthe knowledge that I had exactly a tenner left in my wallet!

Hexagram 48 just tells me to be careful about getting drunk. (You might get married while you are passed out.)

Haaa! Very true. I was super controlled about my alcahol intake last night- I feel a breakthrough in that department actually! I used to have a tendency to slightly overindulge in that area for quite awhile there! In festive tradition, it was Jameson and coffee all the way, with a good two hours at the end with the replenishing clean fresh (undiluted) water of the well :)

overall 11>48 = win :D
