hi,

i seem to be drawing 11 quite a lot of late (11>22, 11>1, 46>11, 11>26, 34>11) but especially 11.6 (either alone or in combination with other lines). could anyone help me with this?

i must be missing the point of it, clearly, cos the yi keeps popping it out.

11 covers in general the concept of balance/harmonising. It is particularily integrating (top line yin) in a general context of differentiating (bottom line yang).

In the binary ordering (the 'true' ordering of deriving the I Ching from yin/yang) 11 PAIRS with hexagram 26 which focuses on differentiating (top line yang) one agent of balance over others, in particular the use of traditions as the 'peferred' perspectives but with the warning not to let the past takeover the present, just support it. - thus the concept in 26 of 'holding firm'.

Hexagram 11 with 26, the PAIR, can be interpreted as reflecting the more generic nature of balance as covered in the pentagram 11100. BUT if 11 is 'changing' into 26 then the focus can be on the path through 11 being distorted by elements of 26 - IOW an over-focus on the traditional is 'distorting' the experience through the archetype of 11 - where the focus is on harmonising unconditionally as compared to the conditional present in 26.

Implicit in this is that the situation is being blocked by conditions imposed re type of balance.

11 and 26 reflect in the context of competitive exchange (base trigram of heaven - five phase METAL) a focus on filtration (five phase EARTH). 11 is instinctive or the rules are derived from outside and are unconditional. 26 reflects the filtration being imposed from experiences - as in a collective being discerning by focusing on traditions etc as filters. - and so the filtering is conditional, personal quality control as reflected in the trigram of mountain.

thanks, that actually makes a lot of sense. the idea of seeking or establishing balance as filtering/blocking the unbalancing elements has given me a new perspective on 11.

My intuitive twopennyworth, for what it's worth.

Hex 11. The trigram Heaven, which tends to ascend is below, and the trigram Earth, which tends to descend, is above. They are moving towards their rightful places. The tendency is towards the ideal. Peace and harmony follow. This is an auspicious time, the time of Spring, which heralds growth and abundance. But the trigrams are also opposites (complementary opposites), and refer to our natures, which are a combination of opposite character traits, a combination of both the ?wise? and the ?unwise?. In order to gain the maximum benefits from this time, we must ensure that the ?wise? part of our nature remains in control.

Line 6: ACCEPT WHAT IS - OR FACE HUMILIATION. The time of Peace and Harmony is ending. Help those around you to prepare for this inevitable change. This will lessen the effects. Don?t try to resist the change, or those who bring it about. Resistance will make the outcome worse. By accepting ?what is?, without resentment or resistance, you will be in tune with the cosmos; you will be assisted by the Creative through the difficult period. Remember, this too will pass.
