I asked Yi - how do I keep hold of this possession
and received 11 unchanging

thanks for all the support - i am horribly stressed at the
moment so I asked Yi

things feel precarious and I am horribly stressed what to do?
and I received 18.2.5 > 53

it would be nice to have a partner to bounce my concerns off
- but none as yet so thanks for clarity :hugs:

I think both are auspicious:

11Peace: Gains outweigh losses. The small depart, and the great approach.

I have received H18, and those lines, often. It is a rejoinder reminding us that we need to remedy things which have perhaps been neglected, but are causing problems now, in the present. "Work on What Has Been Spoiled" is the apt name Wilhelm uses to denote the hexagram.

Emotional I Ching has H18 as "the price of too much cultivation: Spiritual neglect". The idea is to see what has been allowed to deteriorate, and to address this in spiritual ways.

In the judgment: "Before the change, 3 days. After the change, 3 days." So there is a lot of contemplating, reflecting, weighing to do.

I like Berkers for his straightforward simplicity (by contrast , Richard Lynn, for example, has this hexagram as a very cryptic, enigmatic and murky affair):

18. Corruption

Line 2:
Managing a mother's corruption.
Persistence is not suitable.
Dealing with deterioration caused by inherent weakness. Some consideration for the people involved is called for. One shouldn't just try to push ahead.
(The "mother" refers to an ancestral spirit, in ancient Chinese ancestor worshipping.)
Line 5:

Managing a father's corruption.
This needs straigthening out.
Managing the deterioration by correcting things.
(The "father" refers to an ancestral spirit, in ancient Chinese ancestor worshipping.)
Hexagram is changing to:

53. Gradual Development

Gradual development.
The woman marries.
Good fortune.
It is beneficial to persist.

A gradual development is taking place. Things go well. It's good to persevere.
(The woman marrying refers to the gradual development that led to the actual marriage of a woman in the times of the Yijing.)
Hang in there: I know too well how stress can wear one out. I am also without my partner (widowed) and it can be really tough for us, so yeah, thanks be to Clarity and the Yi Jing.:bows:

You would willingly give up your posession if you had someone else to hold to, so the posession is not an end in itself.

Things feel precarious, and I am horribly stressed. What to do?
18.2.5 > 53

Note that the main trigrams of the two hexagrams are oddly reversed, suggesting that there is something in your life you need to reverse. That is, don't do more of the same old patterns. 18 (gu poisoning) is appropriate for feeling precarious and being horribly stressed. The lines suggests that you should not overly follow the patterns set by you mother and father.

' see what has been allowed to deteriorate and address this in
spiritual ways' - thanks for this Foxx I am a great believer in prayer
- and I have indeed become 'flabby' about things
i take this to mean use pray to 'get back on my A game' which I need to do
I feel

I wonder if 53 is telling me to make a real attempt to find a life partner (my
other half as it were ?) this involves meeting people going out (which I mostly
delay due to other 'flabby' reasons ! like gardening cooking antique hunting....

Pocossin indeed the possession would indeed be a means to the end. I have my
dream and need to put the possession to work for its attainment. Clarity is coming
to me now about my way forward - I had forgotten 'the plan' or got sidetracked and
stayed so.

This ties into the mother/father role modelling - my parents settled at my age or my
father semi retired on health grounds but Mum was in her medical career heyday building
up her pension from 50-65. They never moved they were 'the rock' home was always there
for which we all were grateful in some way. They had 4 children and each other

I have one child and am single - yet I find myself subconsciously driven to repeat their
formula which was drifting into their golden years very settled.

I feel called to be more mobile and my situation is different to theirs - THANKS !

I think you are seeing very clearly regarding all this. I can relate in several aspects: Needing to put myself in a position to meet someone , and the need to live a more mobilized middle age than my parents. Well, we must forge ahead!:)
