This question was asked with regards to him cheating on her in the past. She is still wondering if he did, in whatever way. She is mistrustful of him, but does not have any evidence.

14 1,3 seems pretty hard to read.

14,1 may show he did not

14,3 does it refer to her not treating him as her possession?

I am not sure what the Yi is referring to here.

Also, I don't understand 64 in this context. The fox has not yet got his tail in the water. Does it mean he wanted to cheat but did not go all of the way?

pls help me understand this. I understand the symbolisms can go either way, but there is not enough info to determine on my side.

To ask another question, "was he faithful to her"

The ans. was 5,3 to 60.

So there were enemies in waiting?

Line 14.1 says quite clearly that he didn't get involved in any naughty affairs because he knew the consequences.

Line 14.3 says that he was a good man for her, so why the suspicions?

5.3 > 60 Was he faithful, yes he was, first he couldn't move, and secondly, he placed limitations on his activities, so he didn't look for outside satisfaction, so he was faithful.

Willowfox, you're right!

He did not cheat. (90% sure)

How do you explain the negative line of 5,3. It is interesting that you took it that he was stuck.

How do amateur readers of the I Ching prevent a wrong symbol interp?

If I had read it on my own, I'd go by my own symbolism, how do you know when to discard the negative element of a line in a reading?

:bows:
Thanks for your clarity.

How do you explain the negative line of 5,3. It is interesting that you took it that he was stuck.

Line 5.3 says the guy was stuck but stuck in a relationship, so he felt duty bound to do the right thing, therefore he could not move or do anything that was wrong but his non action invited trouble and suspicion.

So the fact that he was doing nothing wrong still caused people to think that he was guilty of something, even though Hex 60 said that he placed limitations on his own behaviour, thus in reality he was being a good boy and obeying the rules.

You asked two questions, "Did he cheat?", "Was he faithful?" but they are the same because if he didn't cheat then he must have been faithful, and if he was faithful, then he didn't cheat.

Willowfox, thanks. That is a very logical explanation.

For line 14.3
"Nine in the third place means:
A prince offers it to the Son of Heaven.
A petty man cannot do this."

How do you take that he is the prince instead of the petty man?

Thank you, once again. :bows:

The subject of the line is this guy you are asking about, he equates to the prince, the petty man is the third party and not included in the answer as the line is just comparing this man, up is upright and straight to some devious toad, you cannot be upright as he is guilty.
So a man having an outside affair will only be able to duck and dive, as he knows he cannot stand up and speak the truth, otherwise the s*** will hit the fan.
