Hello,

My daughter is taking a very strong medication on high dose currently. I am not seeing any benefits and it has been 2 weeks. I was wondering if I should try the same dose/ decrease the dose or stop it for the best outcome. I know some parents who have had success with high dose and some with low dosage. I also worry that I will be dealing with side effects of the med and dont want to if it is not beneficial to my dd.

I asked should I keep the dosage same/ decrease it or stop it for the best outcome.

Imo, this as a complex situation and requiring your every consideration on many fronts (50). Line 14.1 is an entry level line, so awareness of pros and cons is appropriate, but not taking the lead in making this kind of decision (line 5 would be the ruler position). I'd recommend continuing to talk to the MD about his/her rationale and about your concerns, or getting a second, or even third opinion if your instincts are telling you things aren't dialed in right yet.

...honestly, though, I think I'd find a way to read the same thing into any cast. You'd feel terrible if something went wrong because of a decision you made on your own, wouldn't you?

Hang in there mom,

I see this simply as as long as you can see this high does does no harm, causes no side effects, then continue with it.

It seems a straightforward answer to me and does suggest this high dose is doing no harm. If it's doing no harm then there's no point reducing or stopping it yet.

If it is doing harm that you can see then of course change but really to me this answer reassures there is at least no harm coming from this. If you have so far seen no side effects then continue. That is what the answer directly says to me.

I'd suggest doing as much research as you can about what to expect and what to watch out for.
Get more info from the doctor too, if he's not too arrogant. Ask how much time it takes to work.
Then be ready to modify things, or dump the program, according to what watchful eyes tell you.

On a guess that the medication is psychiatric, as for depression, these things are widely variable
in their effects and the doctor should have asked you to observe and report. If he didn't do that
he should be replaced.

Hi,

Seems this medication might need some refinement(50). The delay might be normal or sometimes the meds don't have the expected reaction to some organisms. I was given a med that although its very well know for its remedy , to me didn't work at all .

good luck with that

Thank you everyone for the kind replys...I am for now continuing with the dosage and the answers make sense...I am doing my research....it is does take 3-4 weeks to show positives...I might ask another question next week

I have a very good neuro...but sometimes doctors also do not have the answers these are research based meds and work for some people and do not work for some people. I am hoping for the best:)
