I asked IC what I should do now in regards to an ex and receieved 16.1.4.5 > 3

I have always thought that 16 is about enthusiasm/enjoyment but have also read that it is about preparation?? The other thing I was wondering is do I interpret the changing lines separately or should try to piece them together?

Any insights would be much appreciated

..actually I wasn't thinking of either those things but the second idea sounds interesting!

This reading appears to be reflecting your situation more than advising you about what action to take. Perhaps a little more background would help the interpretation. The 4th line is very auspicious and it shows that you have made a connection that will be very favorable.

It's interesting you mentioned that..I guess IC doesn't always answer what you want how you want it ie for me: tell me exactly what to do??

Boy & I were forced to break up several months ago by his family because of religious differences. I have been finding things a bit tough because we had a good relationship. However though I've come to accept that what has occurred is the best thing that could have happened between us at this point in time. The thing I am still a bit hung up on is whether anything will happen between us in the future either relationship or friendship wise (I don't want to loose him as a friend). Some of the readings I have done so far seem to suggest this possibility but not right at this time. The other thing that seems to be cooming up is that difficulty thing willowfox mentioned - i have received hexagram 39 as a nuclear hexagram about 3 times recently.

I think you realize what the difficulty is at the moment but things will slowly change in the future and the relationship, friends, will get stronger once again, so your answer calls for patience while the situation adjusts itself, certain things are still hidden from you at the moment.

It sounds as though you didn't have much choice in this, which is rather disturbing. I'm not surprised that you would be receiving responses that show difficulty--this is how the Yi works. It shows you where you are and then what you can do (or warns you about what you shouldn't do). The fact that you were forced to separate does not, however, preclude the possibility of coming together again. Keep a record of your readings and as you continue to learn more you can refer back to them. As you gain a better understanding of working with the Yi this will prove very valuable.

I have noticed recently that I keep getting put into situations where I have to wait, be patient and not loose hope..it seems like this must be another one of those situations

I have been keeping a record of questions asked and their responses and it has been really interesting. Maybe I should go back and re-evaluate what i-ching has been saying to me instead of asking anymore questions?
