Hi everybody,

Question: "Is this the right time and circumstances to start this joint project?"
Answer: 16.4 - 2.

Insight: I would like to start a new (long-term) project together with three other people. I would be the leader of it, and after careful thinking, I think I found the right people for it. However, it is rather important for me to do it well because it is the first time I do this on my own (had been part of many other projects in the same field, but very rarely as a leader).

I got this answer twice (as a response to the same question) in a week time (no other divinations in the meantime). What I'm not sure is the "waiting" part in the answer. Is it the right thing, but not the right time? Hex. 2 also talks about "not being the leader", but more about grasping the chance to join someone else's leadership. Sounds a bit confusing in the specific situation.

Any help would be appreciated...

16.4 > 2

Where did you find the idea of 'waiting'? Hex 16 is auspicious for gathering a cadre, and line 4 that you will find congenial associates: You gather friends around you as a hairpin gathers the hair. I read Hex 2 as you will gain ground.

16.4 If it's to be - It's up to me!

I see 16.4 as being The Motivational Speaker line. It's not a question of whether this is the right time or place for your intention. YOU have to make it the right time and place.

As the line changes to 2.The Receptive I think this further emphasizes you are needing your people to be instinctively Receptive to your Enthusiasm. Thus, as far as being a good leader, I feel this hexagram is telling you that if your plan is a good one you wont need to be too worried about leadership skills, people who share your vision will rally round, those who don't should be left alone. Therefore, ask yourself, do these folks I intend to work with have the same enthusiasm I do? Then you wont have to be following folks around begging them to do what they promised to do. They'll do it anyway because you inspire them.

Hi pocossin and rosada,

Your insights were great and very helpful.

The "waiting" that bothered me is the one part of Hex. 2 which I never like, but at the end is always progressive and actually never passive (or at least not in the common sense of the word). Here's what happened just today: I got called by one of the people I mentioned I would choose for my project (?!), saying he needs to gather for a similar project, which might become even better than what I had in mind. It is important to mention that there was no professional connection between me and him before.

This is a clear sign of "needing your people to be instinctively Receptive to your Enthusiasm" (even on distance), and 16.4 "gather friends as a hairpin gathers the hair" (even by simply preparing for it). The amazing thing is, I never touched the phone and call anybody, and there's the answer to "do these folks I intend to work with have the same enthusiasm I do?". Indeed they do.

The way I see hex. 2 now is - the way to start this is by being receptive, as there will be input on this from someone else. THIS is what I didn't realize at first.

Thanks a lot to both of you.
