I borrowed someone else's excellent question and asked for a general summary of my relationship to a creative project I'm working on. I got 16.6-35, which I am having trouble making sense of. Karcher talks about working in the dark, "the situation will deteriorate" but "this is not a mistake, deny the past, find out what you need and climb out of the cave." For some reason I find this entirely opaque (hahahaha: I am in the dark!)

Other translations I read talk about overconfidence . . .

I dunno. 35 seems good! What do you think? Any experiences with this line?

The line suggests that the project has been going well for you but now you are entering a stage where you believe that you can reach the sky, it advises you to be much more realistic about what can be achieved here and then you will easily be able to make progress (Hex 35).

Karcher's translation is really strange, I don't think he is on the same page as the rest of us.

Yes lots of experience with this line. I'd agree with Wfox. Ones enthusiasm is way over the top given the reality of the situation but its okay if you just come down to earth a little. Often had it when very keen over something, especially times when the envisioning of what might be is really running into overdrive. Actually i think 'bursting the bubble' here is productive. All is not lost, one continues with whatever but on a more realistic footing. I don't find Karchers take on this line applicable at all, in my own experience at least.

I have a small amount of experience with 16 in general when it comes up, its deeper than it appears
I would see 16.6 as a false sense of secuity or in jovial terms an empty peanut butter jar
Tyring to get more but in reality there is nothing there

The main thing in general i get from 16 is things are not always what they appear to be
I always get this feeling like i am in a desert or snow when i cast 16
But hey i'm a weirdo

It leads to 35 which for me is always a very positive stage
So i guess it comes together

Steve

PS I only read wilhelm and lise call in narrow minded but i have enough trouble with that

I really appreciate your input, all of you, thanks. I would say overconfidence is the opposite of what I've been feeling but maybe there's some level where I am STILL overestimating things, even though I feel mostly discouraged. Perhaps I should try to discourage myself further. Boy that doesn't sound fun. Will reflect. Thanks.

I think make real goals that are achievable,
What would you do if you had to build a bridge, there are real steps

Ps my spelling is shocking
I need to take a short story class

35 is good for me anyway, progress

Well could just be you just can't get a true picture of where you are with this project, like theres all this potential for what it might be but you can't quite touch it, get to grips with it (like the elephant in the dark in Karcher ?) , that might be discouraging. I agree with Steves last post in that maybe somehow reducing this project to size in your mind, making smaller steps with it may help you to make more progress.

oh that's helpful you guys. Making it smaller in my head would almost certainly help a great deal.

Thanks! I do actually feel much clearer now.
