17 changing to 16

Hi

I'm fairly new to the I Ching, and am totally fascinated by it. I've been very frustated with life over the past year....everything seems like I'm moving boulders uphill.

I just asked what would be the karmic result if I returned to my origins ( not sure why I posed the question this way ) I got 17 changing to 16.....any suggestions from the experienced community

Not certain what you mean by 'return to my origins'. To me such a phrase means 'return to one's nature' which is an ongoing task for one who is serious about studying I Ching as an instrument of transformation. Or did you mean a physical move to your birthplace?

Whatever the meaning, I see the reply as favorable and indicating the time is ripe to get on with whatever undertakings you have in mind for coming to terms with the boulders. One might infer some community service work from line one.

Sorry I cannot be of more assistance. The question was rather vague.

Hex 17.1 speaks of the need for you to go out into society and meet other people, from rich or poor to bandits and kings then you will achieve something.

Hex 17.5 says you need to believe in something in life or you will get lost.

Hex 16 so if you do something good now, then you will reap the benefits later.

This hex often seems to mean that we need to adapt to the circumstances in which we find ourselves and not to try to lead. See things with a new perspective and allow yourself to be led rather than trying to "push." Set yourself a managable goal and see it through. Be willing to receive all kinds of diffrerent views and opinions from all walks of life to aid you in your quest. It's a kinda like one of the networking hex's.

Maybe you asked the question this way because the context of the question is rather complex, and you are trying to find a thread of simplifcation.

This is a thumbs up, 17 lines 1 and 5. I got this reading once, and it was very helpful. 17 line 1 gave the green light to go ahead and change what I was doing, line 5 gave the assurance that the lode star (as a friend called this line) was shining on the change of affairs. that I had the lode star in my heart, and was helping to keep me on track even though other things would be changing.

16 is enthusiastic support. From or for what, depends on your context . It isn't the end all be all final goal, there yet may be twists and turns, but I see this as a very favorable response to your question, that the karmic result is that you will have energetic support.

I'd agree with Hollis on this reading. A complex question which is maybe masking a simple answer.

I think that the reading is saying If you are getting a tough time at the moment, take the line of least resistance even if it is something you wouldn't normally do . Given time things will workout for the best for you.

Karma is hanging around all of us. A little bit of pain and suffering is expected along life's path. I look on these two as good friends giving me reminders that I'm maybe not on track and that I need to get back to what I'm really about.
