Hi and sorry for my english.

My last question to the oracle got hexagram 18 with a moving line on the 4 line, transforming it to the 50.

The Legge's translation about the line show a " The fourth six, divided, shows (a son) viewing indulgently the troubles caused by his father. If he go forward, he will find cause to regret it."

How can a line like this derive the 50 (which show success and not regret)?

Thanks for any answer!

Because life goes on and eventually that failure represented in line 4 becomes a new resolve to deal with the issues?

I've tried to derive hexagram 50 from 64 changing the third line. The comment on this line talk about something which will lead to evil. But this could be avoided (or taking advantage) crossing the great river. So the situation could be positive and so the 50.

But even in 18 there is a reference about crossing the great river (under the sentence) so the 50...

Could be?

The fourth line is a warning to not let things deteriate.Act now or things could become a lot worse in the future. The ting aspect hex 50 is a cooking vessel.Maybe it is refering to the proper way to handle a situation.Cooking the perfect meal requires careful handling or the contents are spoiled.Your situation needs proper handling so as not to spoil it.

Hi

Just in case the commentarie could be useful

I learned that Active lines are particular advices. Related hexagram is the final outgoing IF YOU APPLY THE ADVICES propperly

If you get from someone you trust in the advice "you are being indulgently... if you follow that path you will find cause to regret it" (line 4 of 18), and you apply propperly that advice; then you would "correct the situation to solidify (your) fate" (LiSe translation of 50's image)

Best wishes

Someone has to gather wood and tend the fire, or the food inside the ting will spoil.
