Help.

Despite my own policy of not asking yi to predict the future, I asked, "Will I ever see this person again?" I got 19.2.3 > 36.

I've been pondering it for the past few days, and maybe I got a strangely contradictory answer because I asked about possible futures rather than a distinct course of action in the present -- but I wonder if anyone else can shed some light here? As always, thanks in advance.

Joint approach
Perseverance brings good fortune.

Refers to following that which is best and highest in ourselves. So knowing you have to just stay focused on what's in front of you without worrying about the future.

19.3
Comfortable approach.
Nothing that would further.
If one is induced to grieve over it,
One becomes free of blame.

Danger of slipping into fantasyland. Not useful. Not your style. Wake up before you become totally depressed.

36.
Darkening of the light. In adversity it furthers one to be persevering.

It's no fun, but just keep on keeping on.

I Ching seems to be addressing your concern that you know predicting the future is a slippery slope. Seems to be suggesting you assume you will NOT see him again, if only because that attitude will help you stay focused on the present.

"Will I ever see this person again?" I got 19.2.3 > 36.

It suggests that with determination uppermost in your mind, you will indeed see this person again, oneday.

Thank you Rosada and Willowfox...I think maybe I've made the mistake of trying to read this answer as a prediction -- a literal answer to my question -- instead of the advice I really need to hear.

I've gotten 54 several times in asking about this relationship: 54.1, 54.4, 54.5 in various combinations, so I know I need to let go and live in the present -- but there always seems to be some tantalizing hint that I shouldn't give up hope completely of redeeming this relationship.

If you want to see this person again, then the advice is not to forget about that goal.

I have been trying to go forward in a new career path by feeling my way through it this time instead of just going toward something practical, useful to others, and that makes money. I'm trying to lead with my heart this time. It felt so obvious and natural at first. Lately though I feel like I've lost the trail. I feel stranded in the forest so to speak.
People ask me "how I'm going to change the world" and I haven't a clue.
So I asked the i ching how to find the pull, how do I know where to go, and I got 19.2.3.
Your simple, concise reading makes the most sense to me in my situation.
Don't worry about the future. Stay focused on what is in front of you.
Stop going down the path of depression.
