Hi there,

I'm wondering whether to apply for a job or not. The issue is it's a good friend who would be my direct line manager and it is just the two of us, there's no sort of buffer. It might be fine, it might not be. In addition, it's part time (which is a plus) and contracted (plus since I am freelance and some stability might be nice). On the other hand it's less money than I am paid at the moment as a freelancer and also it's maybe 70% desk based 30% outdoors, my current job is 100% outdoors - which is pro and con.

Any suggestions on how to interpret this reading?
Please advise with regards applying for this xxx job?
21.1 - something about being held, limited in a way that is good?
21.3 - doing a tough thing, (say applying) not succeeding, a bit embarassing but no harm done (maybe I'll apply and not get the job??)
21.4 - doing a hard thing, say applying, but succeeding anyway...
52 - being still

So is this just a reflection of my worries and fears, I guess, rather than a 'prediction' so to speak...? It's not massively helpful but maybe I'm missing something. Any advice appreciated

I'm seeing these lines as referring to the fact you have been free lancing and are now considering taking a job where you would be under someone else's authority.

21.1 You might feel somewhat held back in this role. Maybe your creativity or instincts kept in check?
21.3 Maybe you'll learn something - how to take orders? Ha! Seriously, maybe a reference to taking the lower income in return for security? Maybe it's worth it, maybe it's not.
21.4 These objections shouldn't be deal breakers if you really think you want this job.

52. Keeping Still.
I see this as advice to meditate on this question before you act. Sit quietly and just let this option drift through your mind for a bit until you feel more clear. Perhaps more information will be coming in.

Thanks Rosada. Yes - makes sense what you've said. Working for a very good friend, she would be my direct line manager/boss so to speak also makes me quite nervous. So in that sense I am not sure it would work, but maybe it would be ok - or as you say I'd learn a lot. I will maybe sit on it, I sort of saw it and thought that would be good, and then I thought, hmm....maybe not a good idea because of the friendship and also the restrictions of a mostly desk based job as well as zero or probably very little autonomy.

Thanks for the advice, will meditate on it and see what comes.
