21.1.4.6>2, 23.6>2, 2 uc - any threat?

Hi all.

First of all, I want to thank you for the existence of this site. For about half a year I sneak around the forum wherever I need clarification to my readings and always find it even without having to ask directly. So many thoughts and insights, so much information. But this time I feel I've encountered something beyond my capability to interpret Yi's answers - or I am biased and thus, blinded. Anyway, I need help.

The situation is following:
A month ago my close friend went to Egypt for a job. She is an artist and was invited by an art school she worked in to make a sand animation show. Of course, it was a challenge - other country, different culture, but promised salary was way better than anything she could have found in our country, so she went for it. Initially everything was fine, tourists liked her show and she even found some new friends. But then heads began to roll (people were discharged for their 'disablement', real or imagined), so she asked me to make few readings concerning her work and personal life. I could not perform it due to being emotionally unstable at that moment and I asked her to cast for herself and I would interpret it later. She did so.

First question was "What awaits me at my Egypt work?"
Answer: 21.1.4.6 > 2
Next, "Will I meet love in Egypt?"
Answer: 23.6 > 2

It struck me that both answers lead to second hexagram, Kun. Besides, 21.1.4 leads to 23 and with the 6th line changing we have again 23.6 > 2, so as far as I understand it, both these situations "intercross" at some point. I asked her to make an additional cast asking what threats she may encounter at the work and the result was hexagram 2 uc uch: Kun may mean plenty of things, but in this context it frightens me.
Before her departure I made the first reading about her work: "How V's staying in Egypt will go?" Answer: 37.6 > 63. At that time I interpreted it as quite favourable, being upright in her attitude and appreciated at work. Hex 21 fits well in the overall situation at her work with its underwater currents and V's general recklessness with people and contracts. But my fear for her blurrs my objectivity.

So.

So, mes amis, I would appreciate any suggestion as for what is the possible outcome(s) of this situation. Is there anything to beware of? Or she is just going to be laid off? Or?..

Hi, I really don't feel comfortable interpreting for other people, but in the spirit of community, here are my thoughts?

First question was "What awaits me at my Egypt work?"
Answer: 21.1.4.6 > 2

The hexagram 2 for me comes up when I just have to make a supreme effort to be receptive (not easy for me); to meekly follow is to be fully receptive
However your friend has cast that annoying line 21.6 which means that whatever counsel she hears or advice she receives, she will not believe or register any of it. I would be cautiously optimistic about the line 21.4 which does give success through a difficult process of maintaining your own way in spite of difficulties.

No, no real threat. The initial reading was 37.6>63. 63- crossing the great river, being mindful and well prepared in advance to avoid any misfortune. 37 into the proper role one must assume in order to create order. Like roles in a family. 37, line 6- if she maintains her sincerity, good character, she gains admiration and support. Or could be seen as, yes she maintains sincerity and good character. She will receive support and admiration.

Hexagram 2 is the background. Which makes sense why she received it twice as the relating hexagram. 2- she sets out to work like a mare. Ready to work, full of energy, being receptive, and fully aware of her surroundings. Will she find love? Probably not. 23 she should strip back the layers and 23, line 6 show her value. Show her virtue, talent, true character. If her character is good and sincere she will receive support. Its along the same lines as her original answer. With only a slight twist. Mostly because she's already 63 crosses the great river and 2 set out to work.

21 comes in possibly from worry. Also possibly because by asking again, its as though she doubted the original answer. Its already been given to her.

The key to her answer is in 21, line 4. The middle line. To continue on this path til the very end with firmness and not to deviate from it. Good fortune will come. Be mindful of the difficulties sure, but continue with determination. Blofeld says: "the situation looks more gloomy than it is, so we need to follow our course with firmness. The good fortune is not yet visible." But its on its way. She is to continue with the previous advice. Remain virtuous, with good character, sincere, hard working.

21 line 1, is only a warning. Its like she's making small, minor mistakes to that prohibit her from going forward. The worry and distraction in itself could be the minor mistake.

21, line 6. Same thing, just a warning. Blofeld says: "this suggests that, for the present, we should not put much trust in our own judgement". Karcher says: "understanding not brightened indeed." She simply needs to follow the counsel already given. In 37 line 6. In 23 line 6. In 21 line 4. In 2. Its all the pretty close to the same simple advice.


Of course its good to remain aware of ones surroundings at this time in the middle east. But from these readings I see no real threat. As for the ripe fruit. Its not yet eaten. Its still there. Isaiah 3: 10-11 "Happy is the virtuous man, for he will feed on the fruit of his deeds" "Woe to the wicked, evil is on him, he will be treated as his actions deserve."


So what manifests is really up to her. Its in her hands. In her attitude. Positive will bring more positive. Negative will be a downward spiral of more negative.

My own experience with 23.6 was not so dire, it was rather a recurring unpleasant situation, a lesson unlearned (fruit not eaten) and the problem lied in the attitude. What it is going to be for her we shall see... Forewarned is forearmed. If 21.6 won't interfere

Both answers ring the bell. Problems started to emerge and she became worried, doubting the first reading.
Also, I believe, 21.1 had already come true as her signing a long-term contract: "His feet are fastened in the stocks so that his toes disappear", she is now bound to this work for a long time. But there is "No blame", since the job is not bad, generally.

This was the key. In my anxious state of mind I totally failed to see how in fact close 37.6 and 2 are! When I realized it I couldn't restrain a sigh of relief. Indeed, "The perseverance of the woman furthers"! And "The Receptive brings about sublime success, furthering through the perseverance of a mare." I was myself like 21.6... And everything fell to the place.

It never ceases to amaze me how forbearingly and patiently Yi tries to get across the message to us. And luckily, finally manages.

Good night to all again. Back here to write how everything turned out. Sorry for necroposting

Long story short,
21 - the work at the hotel was very Shì Kè. Beside her responsibilities themselves which were quite enjoyable, she had to take up other tasks unpaid for, to fulfil stupid orders from the managers (like performing her sand animation show on the strong wind), to put up with the room-mates of nasty temper and so many more...
21.1 - the contract with her manager, binding but providing relatively stable job.
21.4 - interesting people she met, money she earned, invaluable experience of working abroad... watching life different from what we are used to in our country. The latter was very inspiring to go on struggling for better life quality.
21.6 - probably, constant deceiving attempts from the hotel management, minor and more serious.

As far as I know from her stories, she worked diligently and as I see myself, her professional level raised substantially (37.6), but she won't probably be invited to this particular hotel (63?), because they prefer young inexperienced workers upon whom they can foist piles of tasks not mentioned in the contract.

23.6 - she fell for a guy who perceived their relationship more like friendship + bed. You know, all that modern stuff... Luckily, she was wise enough to end their liaison gracefully, but this was a recurring situation in her life (ripe fruit not eaten), which I was unaware of back then.

I am still somewhat unsure about the hex 2 symbolism. It may signify humble position of the hotel staff member, or becoming more receptive and flexible, or the area of her work (earth --> sand), or all at once.
