Hello all, I haven't posted on here for a while but I've been completely stumped with a situation. I can't give too many details but the abridged version is as follows...

My sister has been told something about my other half by somebody who would not tell untruths. She has contacted me to warn me off this guy as a result of what she has been told. She says he has been lying to me and is hysterical about it.

My new guy has said that if I want to walk away then he understands and there will be no hard feelings. He still says he has been completely truthful with me and is really upset by this. He has shown me something which is hard evidence in support of his story and I believe him deep down anyway.

Either him or my sister are lying or the person who gave info to my sister is talking about somebody else. I really don't know what to think.

I asked I ching 'What is going on?' The answer was 22 unchanging.

I was surprised when I got that because not only can I not read any advice from it, I can't relate it to the situation. Can anybody help?

Hmm... maybe it's pointing to your personal standpoint in this situation, and that it's best to limit your involvement so that its ever-so-slight.

Hello loulisnowdrop,

In my own experience, there is one aspect of Hex 22 that is very superficial. It is when you pay more attention to the form than to the content, when you just scratch the surface, when you just take things as they appear to be rather than look thoroughly into things. As hexagrams go, this is not the right attitude to deal with more serious affairs. This is what I think that the Yi is telling you in answer to your question "what is going on?" : A superficial approach has caused the problem that you are all now involved in. If you want a piece of advice, you will have to ask ;)

Take care:bows:

Thanks both of you. After giving this some more thought, the hexagram does describe the situation as Mirian suggests.
Quoting from Hatcher...
A glorious sight to the folks in the valley, but this glamorous light on the surface
of things preempts and precludes the long vision. Only one side of this issue is lit,
one only sees part of the surface. You see it with your own eyes; what pleases the
eye is apparently true; how could appearances be deceiving? From this point of view,
folks can be told nearly anything about the world beyond. Even the near is subject
to tricks and plays of the light, the magician’s stock in trade. This is not to negate
the beautiful, or local information: most of cultural thought is raised in small spaces.
But deeper issues and critical precedents want the broader and longer perspectives.

To summarise that, someone isn't seeing the full picture... I'm hoping that person isn't me.

My sister knows nothing of this guy other than his name. She has never met him before so I'm hoping that the yi is suggesting she is basing her judgment on partial information.

If the person missing the bigger picture is me then I'm not going to be happy but I'll be able to update this thread when I get to the bottom of things.

This reading doesn't seem to suggest my sister is lying to me so I can take some comfort in that.

Just to update on this with only a partial update unfortunately. I know he has not lied to me and I was right to believe him.

I'm still left with the story my sister gave me though and we're now down to 2 possibiities... she has been given inaccurate information or she is lying. I'm trying to make contact with the person who spoke to her but so far haven't had any luck... still in the dark about the root of the issue but I'm glad I followed my instincts about him not lying :)
