To make a long story short, I said a heart wrenching goodbye to a woman I loved dearly. I believe my presence in her life was making her complacent and preventing her from working through an important life transition. Whether this is the case or not, only time will tell and I may not be privy to the result. But, you know the old saying "if you love something let it go".

In any case, I asked the oracle the question "how long will it be before I find true love satisfaction and joy" and received back 24.1 > 2

As I understand 24, the use of seven days means the time is lengthy requiring deliberation or organization and line 1 has indicated in other posts that winter may be signified. An I understand 2 as symbolizing results.

But how is this all connected? I am vexed.

Interesting, when I asked "where will I find true love satisfaction and joy" the oracle answered with 33.3.5.6 > 16. Does this suggest my course of retreating from the recent relationship bodes well for me?

Winter. Was your friendship impeding her growth or did you get cold feet? Consistently applied, your philosophy is self-defeating.

Hi pocossin, im curious about time frames in the answer, that is something I never got around to. May I ask where you take the Winter from this answer? I'm aware that some texts refer to "This hexagram is linked with the eleventh month, the month of the solstice (December-January)." - that would be next winter. But the actual reading 24,1 talks about a short detour, or a fast return, which for me suggested prior to reading your comment that the answer could be close... And also, how to know its this december-january and not winter 2015?
I'm not refuting what you say in any manner, I'm just trying to learn a new way to look at it!

Thank you both*

Both hexagrams are hexagrams of winter -- a time of cold. In the hexagram calendar of Yang Xiong, hexagram 2 correlates to Nov 29 - Dec 3 (a.m.). This isn't yet winter, but it is a time of cold in northern China. My idea of cold feet comes from the idea of cold in hexagram 24 as used by the Duke of Zhou and line 1 as the line of the feet.

And also, how to know its this december-january and not winter 2015?

The situation is urgent and will not be put off a year and a half. Come this winter, gregjrob is going to be especially lonely during the winter holidays, a time of yin in the northern hemisphere. He is already asking about another friend. He will be under great pressure to find someone by this time, and I think he will do it. Yang qi's decline ends with the winter solstice. The short return of 24.1 suggests a return to the woman he abandoned or to one of her circle of friends. The apple won't fall far from the tree. I hope you will post your interpretation without being unduly influenced by me.

I take comfort in the timeframes. I am working to sustain communication in a very complex relationship. While my heart yearns for a resolution...with just the hint of encouragement I can be pursuaded to be patient. We are both relatively solitary people. There is no circle of friends I am aware of.

Thanks to both of you. I am working to avoid self-defeating attitudes, thoughts, and actions.
