Hi everyone,

Have you ever been in love with someone that you just can't let go? Someone who you still have contact with, for business reasons, etc - and is there, but you just can't have? I'm in that situation. I'd like to move away, get away from this person and put her out of my life. Because having her "there" but not "here" is painful. Sigh, yes, I know, I'm a romantic. Sometime I wish I wasn't.

I consult the Yi on a frequent basis, and I think I understand a lot of what it shares with me. Although she is not in my life, something in the back of my mind tells me that one day we will be. But, being involved and perhaps not been able to see this situation in a rational manner, I thought I would consult with friends in this group.

What I need to do is to KNOW (if that it possible) whether or not a relationship with this person is at all possible. If not, fine. If so, great! However, it is the not-knowing that is driving me mad. I guess I jsut want to get on with my life, either way.

I asked the Yi, "What are (her) romantic feelings for me?" and received the reply: 26.1.4 -> 50. Taming Power of the Great - Line 1 warns of danger, but line 4 tells of great good fortune - leading to The Cauldron, which I have always read as being a "great potential".

I appreciate any and all feedback - and please, be brutally honest if you want. Also, any other reading you would like to do on my behalf are greatly appreciated.

I hope that this message finds everyone doing well.

Kindest Regards,

Don.

Lets say that both lines are about restraint, holding it in because showing one's feeling would be a huge mistake, so any action is cut off before it can even begins, so good fortune comes about because nothing is going to be allowed to happen. A fire needs to fuel to keep burning, take away the fuel and the fire dies.

hmmmm

Hi Willofox,

Thanks for your reply. Much appreciated. However, I have to admit, I'm not sure if I understand. I see how both lines are about restraint - she has feelings, but is not showing them (?). But how does "good fortune comes about because nothing is going to be allowed to happen"? What is the good fortune?

Thanks again!

Don.

The good fortune comes because nothing happens, if things were to happen then there would be a great deal of danger for all concerned, think of plutonium, when it is in a box it has no power to hurt anyone but leave the box open and it becomes very dangerous and can kill. So, as you see the good comes from restraint. If the passions are allowed to burn, then control will be lost which then leads to nasty and unwanted consequences. This woman ain't going to dance.

She fancies you, but for some reason only she knows, she considers this
a danger, and thus she is holding back, and curbing her instincts (26:4).
50 does mean success, however more often than not it means starting
anew, to 'cook' something fresh.

Interesting... I've got exactly the same situation (I'm female asking about a male) and received this identical I Ching.
