I've been having an issue with my eyes since Friday that worsened Saturday - swollen left eye, bloodshot, itchy. My chest has also been a bit heavy at times so I was assuming it's an allergic reaction. I've been taking Benadryl and I'll be heading to the doctor in 20 minutes. I wasn't sure if I should head to an allergist, eye doc, ER, etc but figured I'd start with the family doc first. I just asked what is the primary cause of this and received:

27.6 > 24

I'll be back later with an update. Thanks.

My first impression is that it might be stress, but allergy is a good interpreration

6th line does indicate seeking expertise so the doctor's visit is on target.

Hexagram 24 "Turning Point" can be interpreted as a crisis, a decisive point: may be something serious enough to warrant extra care.....it bodes well in the long term, as it signals the return of light & life.

All the Best

What is the primary cause of this?
27.6 > 24

A most appropriate casting. Among other things, 27 has the appearance of an eye, thus Sakis Totlis' The True Eye of the Tiger, and line 6 is often the line of excess, appropriate for an allergic reaction.

Nine at the top means:
The source of nourishment.
Awareness of danger brings good fortune.
It furthers one to cross the great water.

If it is an allergy, "awareness of danger" would be identifying and avoiding the allergen. Hexagram 24 correlates to The Dragon, Leo in western astrology. If you have a cat, is it sleeping on your bed?

. . .allergies can affect the eyes, too, causing red, itchy, burning, and watery eyes and swollen eyelids. . .

Thanks all. Right now, I've been given antihistamine allergy drops for my eye(s). I'll be in search of an allergist to try to find out what triggered this. Also, if my eye doesn't improve I"ll need to follow up with an eye doc.

pocossin, no cats here but I do have a dog. He's almost 4 now so unless he's all of a sudden triggering something or bringing something in from outside I really don't know. Both flare ups occurred outside of my house.

27.6: "To be a source of nourishment is both auspicious and dangerous." Because of hexagram 27's relationship to food, I am wondering if a food you are eating has recently become problematic.

Thanks, ginnie. I've been trying to keep an 'eye' (no pun intended) on what I'm eating and when this occurs. So far I can't pinpoint any rhyme or reason. It seems to worsen at night - perhaps it's just the seasonal changes but I'll keep digging further.

Thanks again

Earlier you said that both flare ups occurred outside your house but now its at night when I suppose you are inside your house, but does it happen while you are in bed? The allergen can be difficult to identify because reaction isn't immediate, the reaction is more intense at some times of day, and exposure may be intermittent or continuous. I think it is typical for symptoms to feel worse at night (10-11 pm), but that wouldn't necessarily mean that you are being exposed to the allergen then. When you identify and eliminate the allergen, the allergic reaction will go away. My allergen is fabric softener. A few weeks ago I bought a pair of jeans without thinking. I began to break out in welts. Finally it occurred to me that those jeans had been pre-washed in fabric softener. I stopped wearing them, and the itchy swellings were mostly gone in two days.

Hi pocossin,
It's been mostly early evening, around dinner time but before I eat. I'm glad you sorted out the issue with the jeans!
