I look at the way the bottom trigram mirrors the top one. It is as if God, 27.6, was lonely, wanted someone equal to Himself to talk to and so projected himself on to The Great Undifferentiated and manefested as 27.1. But as junior gods, or newborn gods we are inexperienced and don't know where we came from or why we are here. We only know we want to be one with God again, but somehow this is denied us. We must recognize that we already ARE one with God, that we have or that we are the Magic Tortoise. But until we realize that we are the source, we misinterpret all our experiences and look to outside sources as being the cause of our condition (27.2). But even so, even though our desires only beget more desires and never satisfaction (27.3), in the fulfilling of our fantasies, we come to experience the creative power that is ours and God's. Once aware of our creative power, we realize it cannot be satisfied only serving our own needs, that our personal needs are only pleasures for the sences. To be truly satisfied we find our power needs to be used to satisfy the needs of ALL, to be responcible, able to respond, to ALL. (27.4) From there we realize we cannot, from our limited human perspective do this, and that we must connect our power with a power which can, and this turns us to consider, to use our power to create a mechanism which can: God/the Magic Tortoise(27.5) Thus in 27.6 we have God the creator of man in the same space as man the creator of God. It is a dangerous place to be, kinda like hex.9, the handler, next to hex10, the lion. But as Man recognizes he is a co-creator then great good fortune is possible.

I, too, love this old thread. Rosada nailed it from a Sacred Geometry perspective. According to such,
God, the Monad--which is symbolized by a circle with a dot in the middle and also the symbol for gold, which is Au, and which is similar to AUM, Om--went outside Godself, expanding in the Great Void and became two. This "two-ness" is represented by the square root of 3, the Vesica Pisces. It gave rise to the polygonic universe. All things are derived from this equation. Also, the Christ came through here. The Third. The child of the two.

Concerning nourishment, it makes sense that we are able to nourish and be the source of nourishment like our creator, as we are the source in 27.6. If God reflected on Godself, we are all divine and have the original imprint. As this is a holographic universe, and the math proves it, we're like shards of the original. Our consciousness is a fragment of the whole. In 27.6, we are in touch with the divine to be capable of nourishing ourselves and being a source of nourishment for others.

Robert Lawlor has a great book called, Sacred Geometry: Philosophy and Practice. You can google "vesica pisces or piscis" also.

I have returned to this thread at various times - Bradford makes things simple, and I needed simplicity today. One of those days when there is too much, too much responsibility, too many arrows heading my way. I asked What is the problem here? and got this line.

I felt like playing rounders (I hated this game at school because I was always chosen last was an outside fielder, and couldnt catch a ball). Like waiting for the ball to be hit and having to run type of feeling. Too many anxieties really today.

The comments have really helped to centre myself, look to myself for guidance, not go flailing all over the place, hither and zither and realise that I am have reached the top of the mountain, a bit of a perilous place, I need to be careful, but that I am in control here.

What I would like to do is fly right now...off the mountain completely, but this is not possible, I just need to tread carefully, back down the mountain, as I have work to do. I have a sense that if I was not needed further down, I would be given the wings to fly.

I like the idea of nourishing ourselves by nourishing others, but feel the missionary/cannibal scenario does feel most uncomfortable. The sacred geometry idea makes me feel most comforted....

I've found Brad's cannibalism scenario to be both far reaching and sadly too easy a boiling pot to fall into. Yet to not reach out seems selfish and depriving when it comes to not offering oneself. It's still best to not fall into the missionary position. I think I understand why it's better to write recipe books and keep it impersonal. At least you can return home in one piece.

I like 26.6 - it is a things will be alright line, and has, without fail, been like this for me. However, it does often lead on to 27 - and I feel that at 27.6 I have reached the end, completely knackered and worn-out, almost wanting to go back to 26.6 and start again - but it is all too much hard work, getting back down, having all that walking to do. Much easier if you could get a zip wire back to the bottom (or fly or get a helicopter)

Do butterfly spiders have 8 feet for walking to the bottom AND wings for flying down?

Of course.....like at 27.6, they have morphed into the best bits of a butterfly and spider and left the caterpillar stage behind...

Hi, Bruce:

Good to see you again. I don´t understand what have you against the missionary position. Maybe lack of creativity?

The ORDEAL was of course about BEING DEVOURED and remain alive for talking about it. Maybe it was what Brad tried to make understand. But I didn't read this thread before.

Best regards,

Charly

(1) Cheeks can be an euphemism for BUTTOCKS or a metonymy for MOUTH, turning a metaphor of another part of anatomy. I prefer the last because H.27 says ... WATCH THE CHEEKS, followed by the explanation: NOSE LOOKING FOR A TRUE MOUTH. Or by yours own initiative look for a true «mouth». Say, not in the literal sense, but something deeper.

(2) After crosing the great river there was the SACRED FOREST where the peasant youngs had sexual intercourse during the spring festivals, before marriage.

(3) I wonder why CRUEL, maybe dangerous is a more standard translaton but I believe that girls mocked of boys in such festivals. Even more, like Vladimir Propp believed feeling of danger made part of a sexual complex where feminity evoked the fantasy of the toothed vagina.

Hi, Butterfly Spider:

I was said that the character for CHEEKS has two components. At the left a cross section (x-ray) of a mouth with its teeth and tongue. To bite one's tongue means to shut up, to zip the lip. Say, there is a secret here, not to be said to everybody. At the right a head, sometimes meaning chief or principal, with its hairknot, it belongs to a tall man, and two little feeth or leggs. An adult that cultivates more his head than other parts of his anatomy. Maybe a superior man (Mengzi).

The complet character should depict a hungry mouth ready to devour the big head of the superior man.

Moral 1: don't put your head in the tiger's mouth. And there is a tiger in the hexagram.

Depictions of tigers have always the mark of the king in the forehead, they are kings or belong the them. Maybe the hungry mouth belongs to a Queen, a Goddess or a scary side of women.

Moral 2: If it worths, do it.

The Changes have always more than one moral, sometimes in opposition. It have indeed much more than two. Absolute consistence is no possible.

All the best,

Charly

Found this very comprehensive thread. Thank you to all!!

Anyone have any guidance on timing this line could indicate? If a question was posed for “when” to do an action - would this line indicate “right now”, “this is the time” ?

thank you!
