Should I accept that my legal case against ABC Ltd is not now going to succeed: 28,3 - 47

28,3 Wilhelm: The ridgepole sags to the breaking point. Misfortune .....(it finds no support).

The case involves a roofing company who undertook the rebuilding of the roof on my sister's house. At first all appeared to go very well indeed but after a few months many of the tiles on one side of the roof started cracking and on closer inspection it was found that many of the timbers in the new roof were not actually new timbers at all but were old timbers reclaimed from the old roof. There followed a lengthy legal case against the roofing company and I started taking readings on the issue about six months ago. The early readings all consistently indicated a very favourable outcome for my sister but as time went by I began to have my doubts and eventually I submitted the question above to the I Ching.

A brief cursory look might seem to indicate that the legal case, like the roof itself, was sagging to breaking point with failure looking inevitable. However, given that I had already received several very positive readings I felt that it was worth examining the reading from a different perspective. The attitude contained within my question could be said to contradict the previous readings in that it is implying that they were wrong. The I Ching has set its answer within Hex 28 a hexagram in which a very strong, direct approach is lacking support at each end. It is a hexagram which often represents major mistakes. The excessive unbalanced yang contained within my question is not balanced or supported. Further, the answer is given at third yang within the lower primary trigram which indicates that the answer is addressing my internal condition - my mindset. The sagging ridgepole represents the collapse of my previous view in the face of a prolonged dispute - it is no longer receiving support from myself. The I Ching is not talking about the condition of the roof, it is talking about the condition of my mind. It is supporting its previous replies very strongly. I’ll post the eventual outcome.

Hmm I see it as, don't try to change the approach, to expand or increase the power of attack, it will only make things worse. Stick with the [old] plan and that's it. Refrain from 'improving/fixing', 47.

Thanks Rodaki and Ashteroid.

Yes, my sister was awarded compensation which the building company eventually paid up. When the new roofing company started their work it was found that there was even more repair work needed than first thought but we weren't prepared to go through the legal process again so we agreed to pay for it ourselves - it wasn't too much anyway.

So with hindsight I would say that the reading, 28,3-47, was referring to my lack of support for the earlier readings. I agree with your comments Ashteroid, there was no need at all to expand or increase the power of attack but on the basis of this reading I strengthened and reaffirmed my original belief in my sister's cause, I mentally repaired my sagging ridgepole.

I just wanted to say, no one seemed to notice, but the IC was also being literal here, the ridgepole was literally sagging

The I is always literal, just a question of names and metaphors, not to say Images, changing but with the same root. To be hurt by a mosquito or a spinner, still, the Focus was distracted for a moment as it as well could be drawn away by a noise - different sources, same effect, I think.
