Hello Fellow Seekers,

Long time since I've been on here, and missed you guys. Was too bsuy meeting revision deadline on my new novel, Foreign Flavours. I queried 25 agents in New York and got positive responses from two major literary agents. One wanted entire ms - which I sent, and teh other, first 50 pages on an exclusive basis. Meaning he would prefer to look at it exclusively. I did not tell him about the other agent lookinga t it. This other is even bigger. I asked whether one of tthem would pick it up and got 28 lines 5 and 6 to 50. 28 seems terrible but 50 is great. nd the top line changing in 28 - which is referred to as "the influence is outside" seems to mean that situation has already passed away to make room for 50. 50 speaks of culture and the book has a multicultural base. I pitched it as Sex and the City in the India of the 80s. Former model and copywriter looks for her white Mr. Right. And after a few white lovers, in the end, realises, beacsue of ehr spiritual path, that tehre is no such thing as a Mr. Right. It is onluy a matter of karmic connections which can be good or bad. Her quest for the white Mr. Right turns into a quest for her inner self which is eternal, not transient. Would love any interpretations. It is very important to me. I know I must put it through another revision though.

Hi Anita,
just quick notes, sorry but little time.
I would interpret the two moving lines as correspondent to the two major agents cited, that is in one case (28.5) you can achieve something, definitely stay away from 28.6.

Try to identify who the lines refer to, 28.5 could be related to something new from an old relationship, may be you already knew this agent ?
28.6 could be related to a new encounter (28.6 -> 44)

Hugs

Hi Paolo,

Thanks for the quick response. Hmmm - I know none of these agents previously. in fact it's the first time I've written to them. However, I did hear from Trident first - the guys who asked for my entire book, and then, thenext day, William Calrk Associates that asked for first 50 pages via snail mail. I've sent them both, but of course I don't like the idea of Clark having exclusive rights to look at it. Which bars me from sending to other agents. Maybe the 28 -6 is about how I slogged like never before on a novel trying to meet my deadline! Thanks again.

I vote there's something brewing with the people who asked you to send only the first pages. They didn't want to be Overburdened, which led to Hexagram 50, and they asked you to send 50 pages. Coincidence?

Rosada,

William Clark asked for first 50 pages straight away - but said he preferred to look at it on an exclusive basis and would, in return, treat my book in a 'timely manner'. While Trident Media Group asked for the full ms after just my query letter. But I went ahead and sent to both. Thanks for jumping in. Anyone else out there?

Just for your information - it didn't work out with either of the agents.
