Dear all,

I have an important interview on Thursday. I asked Yi what should I do to get the internship. I got hexagram 50.5 going to 18. After that I asked what is the potential of me getting the internship and got 29.5 moving to 7. Doesn't sound optimistic at all. Line 5 means not to be arrogant. So as I understand I should not expect a a good outcome. Also hexagram 50 talkes about me being unprepared for such tasks as to intern for this non-profit, meaning that I am not qualified enough, which could be true, so now I am really scared.
Please give me your insights.

Thank you.

I tend to get 29.5 to 7 when I am indeed frightened or fearful of the outcome.
It's as if there are things lurking in the bushes waiting to pounce...at least that is what I think of your 29.5 to 7 casting on the interview

I think it could also be telling you that things may come up at the interview that are out if the blue - questions that you have not anticipated. I have a picture of you hiding in the bushes waiting to cross open ground. You don't know where the enemy is going to fire from ...

I am leaning not to think if outcomes as positive or negative just a process of getting to the best point.
Yes prepare well think of any likely questions and answer truthfully.

Hiya,

I'm going to have a go at that first reading because I love hex 50 (for two years it turned up in almost every reading of mine). Hopefully others will respond because I still consider myself pretty new at this whole interpretation thing.

50.5 Wilhelm. The ting has yellow handles, golden carrying rings. Perseverance furthers.

Here we have, in a ruling position, a man who is approachable and modest in nature. As a result of this attitude he succeeds in finding strong and able helpers who complement and aid him in his work. Having achieved this attitude, which requires constant self-abnegation, it is important for him to hold to it and not to let himself be led astray.

I think you can expect a good outcome if you follow the advice in the first reading. It is warning you of a potential issue. With the second reading, it seems you might be getting ahead of yourself in asking what the potential outcome is when, if you think about it, how you conduct yourself in the interview will likely have a significant impact on the outcome. Out of how many people were you lucky enough to be selected for an interview? Are you grateful for the opportunity and willing to put your very best into both the interview and the internship if you are selected? What type of preparation have you done? How much more preparation is needed?

Perhaps, you could ask what is the potential of this opportunity? if you need further info. Even if you don't get the role, the experience could prove very valuable. And 29.5 isn't all bad. Again it has a warning about arrogance perhaps vs modesty.

Anyway, I think the first reading says you have a good chance if you present yourself as modest and willing to learn, if you understand and support the values of the organisation.

Butterfly spider just reminded me of my experience as an interviewer. So to expand on her interpretation. In non-profit organisations, there is frequently a greater interest in ensuring there is a "cultural" fit for any new team members. So some of the questions may focus on who you are as a person, rather than your skills and prior work experience. ie. Tell me about a time when you had to overcome such and such a difficulty... Those kind of questions sometimes throw people off their guard - which is what they are designed to do, but they also give you an opportunity to let your character shine through.

50.5 → 44 and 50.4 → 18, so which was it?

29.5 says you have a good chance, if you stay in the middle, if you balance your emotions. Don't put much pressure on yourself.

Thank you everyone! Yes, sorry, it's actually 50.4 going to 18. I just feel that I am underqualified for that position, but will go anyway for the sake of experience, thank you, Hujambo. I am afraid of questions, just like Butterfly spider said, but will be very honest and sincere about my skills, because it will be evil if I am arrogant just like 50.4 says.
Tim, thank you, I will do that, but because I feel I don't have enough skill, I am scared.

My very best wishes for the interview, zuma. Take heart in the fact that you have been selected for the interview, which means they already think you might have something valuable to contribute. Breathe... ;)

From this brief interaction - if I had an internship available that matched your goals, I would have no problem hiring you because I can see that you really want this opportunity thus you are likely to do everything you can to learn and do a great job.

Alright, so it was 50.4 → 18 you say. Then both readings depict two cases of a container holding liquid: in the first it overflows and spills, in the second it's just filled to the rim.
The first advice will be: don't get a position at a charity kitchen :) no way :)

And seriously: get yourself together! (18), stop spilling (50.4) and over-thinking (29.5). Less emotions, more concentration, be like an army (7).

Richmond:
The Ting has three short legs upon which it stands, supporting it off the ground, the world, and these symbolize our connection with the outer.

If legs break you are spilling yourself outside. So you need to fix this(18) and start :stir: again.

Thank you again for your advice :) I will just take it easy and will get myself together tomorrow, I know it will be fine. But now I am super curious what they are going to ask me.

Well, I was not that nervous. I didn't like what they offer; the organization serves to protect scholars, so it seemed interesting, but the department I was interning for is development one, with fundraising and mlooking for new donors, it's like sails. I am not good at it, so I was brutally honest of my luck of the office experience :) I am pretty sure I will not get it. I also told her I need this internship to graduate :)
