29 unchanging - urgent

A Cinematographer came over to help me finish my short film. He didn't ask for any payment - I covered his flights and his meals / accommodation. He worked hard, but was a pain in the arse with director. Anyway, through irresponsibility - he missed his flight and is stuck in the airport. He has no money to buy another ticket. But he left too late and it's completely his fault.

I asked the iching.

"What should I do about x?" I got 29 unchanging.

I'm conflicted- I feel guilty for not wanting to cover his flight, it's not cheap and I have little money myself. But then he did work hard for free, and he'll have to suffer a 20 hour bus journey back to Poland.

Could this hexagram reflect that he's really in big trouble without my help? Part of me thinks he needs a lesson, then the other half feels I'm being unkind.

Any advice is welcome

Sometimes when you miss a flight you can be put on a later flight at no additional cost. Have you looked into this?

The 29 uc apparently shows you thinking through this problem step-by-step and trying to keep your wits about you. Your conflicted thoughts seem natural, given the situation. The cinematographer has an irritating personality, but perhaps it would be best to forgive him before ill-will takes over, as that could lead to long-term regrets. :)

I hope this helps
In my view 29uc indicates a trouble that is made worse by not dealing with it - leaving it or repeating the same mistake again. I really think that you should engage with this person here - he may be a pain but he has been a useful pain -
Even if missing his plane was his fault perhaps you do have a duty of care. What if you needed him again - what if he was to get angry down the line. Could you not come to a compromise here. To prevent repeating chasms or danger resurfacing. If may well be that your fear is creating the danger here - a small addition to his expenses seems reasonable to me. Pre empting future danger is something that strikes me here

I just get a sense of some injustice somewhere in this bit ignore my notions as necessary!!

Thanks for your replies.

Well, in the end I booked him another flight... because as you correctly pointed out butterfly spider - is that I do have the duty of care.

I was feeling conflicted because he missed his flight from lack of thoughtfulness rather than something being out of his control and in the end I'm left to burden the cost. Buying him a new flight meant that I have to alter my life for one week and eat porridge to afford his extra ticket - and I thought "why should I suffer for his stupidity?"...

Anyway, in the end forgiveness is always best and I feel better that he's not stranded.

Thanks for your replies, really helped. :)

I think you are in a trouble that whatever solution you choose will still make you have some setback afterwards. That's what 29uc usually suggests. You can only reverse the situation if you know ecactly what you are doing now and afterwards.

Dear MoonCatcher,
I just wanted to say I am really impressed by your kindness. And also good sense. While the unexpected expense is putting you back a bit you can feel good about yourself and you wont have bad feelings surrounding this memory, which can last a lot longer than frustrations about the money.
Hex.29 says the superior man has success in his heart so everything he does succeeds. There was a problem, you handled it, no problem.:bows:
