Hello all,
I wonder if anybody would like to comment and help me clear up confusion around my Yi reading today. In recent times I have got Hex. 23 quite a lot. So I am changing direction in my work and "stripping away old ideas". I'm starting a small but "difficult" contract of work in a new field and I asked the Sage if I would have success. I received; 3.3.4 >49. The lines seem to contradict though, so I asked how I might find help. I got; 27.6 > 24. "Return"!
I would appreciate any thoughts.

It might have been beneficial for you to have posted what you thought of the Sage's comments, even if they were still a bit confusing for you.
These are exciting times with plenty of new challenges for you.

Here are a few thoughts -

Will you have success?
3 - New ventures can run out of steam. Keep on keeping on and all will be well.
3.3 - You know what you need to be doing in most situations. Trust yourself and remember to stand back and look at things calmly rather that rushing headlong into the thick of battle.
3.4 - Personal challenges may beset you. Keep positive and look to keep moving forward to bring the new you to the fore.
49 - Big changes like nothing you can imagine.

How might I find help?

27 - Think carefully about what you do and say and watch how others behave around you in relation to your choices.
27.6 - Taking on board the things that you notice on how the change operates and brings different results
24 -will allow you to make a bright new beginning.

dear dhahi,
it may feel like an awkward time-- 3 is fraught with difficulty but also real opportunities for growth and new turns in the road. I don't have much to add to to my key's astute observations, except to say that sometimes periods of growth can appear unmanageable and chaotic. You can navigate through it with help from others and watching after yourself properly, being good to yourself and persevering despite challenges. Good luck with your new venture, and congrats on taking a risk: a lot of people never do that.

My confusion arose firstly from the lines. 3 and 4 appear to contradict each other. 3 seems to advise stopping and warns of danger and humiliation, while 4 advises seizing the opportunity in spite of the risks and difficulties.
But, 3 speaks of a guide and 4 of helper(s), and here I am getting the guidance and help.
Another aspect to the readings is how 23 appears as the nuclear in 3 and also appears as the Yang Operator (according to Karcher's method) in 27.6 > 24. I was seeing 24 as a contradiction of 23 instead of seeing the contrast and progression which is presenting in the Pair:
"Stripping means something is rotten,
Returning means the way is reversing"
