Hi everyone,
I have been reading many postings from this forum and find them extremely helpful. Today I have a reading that I don't really understand and would be grateful if someone could help me with it.
I have been job searching for a few months and have had no real income since last December. My savings account is toally depleted I am now quite worried about my finances. This is why this evening I asked "how long before I find a job" and got hex 3 unchanging. I have no idea how to interpret this. I wondered if the yi meant to indicate a duration or simply telling me that There are still a lot of things to sort out before I can find a job.
In case it matters, the time was 10:23pm, the place is new york.

Thanks

Hi there. I think it is just telling you that even though it's been a hard/slow transition you will eventual find something worthwhile. Just don't give up. The last phrase, one of the interpretations that I read was to find help if you need to. Hex 03 also refers to the barely beginning of Spring when the snow is melting-- so I think you should be able to find something soon, it's beginning to unfold for you. Good luck there!

Thank you so much for your response. I asked again about my search this morning and got 37: 2 - 4> 1, which I interpreted the same way. Job searching is definitely hard. At least I think I know who to turn to for help. Thanks again.

Yes, hexagram 3 might mean that something is "sprouting". Young sprouts need care and attention if they are to thrive, so if there's anything in your job search that seems to have a hint of life, tend it and help it grow.

The Oracle says (quoting Hilary's book - in case you don't know, Hilary is the owner of this website):

Sprouting.
From the source, creating success, constancy bears fruit.
Don’t use this to have a direction to go,
Fruitful to establish feudal lords.

"Dont use this to have a direction to go" - might mean that tending a sprout is not the same as forcing it to grow in a particular way. Don't try to "direct" it. Help it, encourage it, provide what it needs, but let it find its own way. (One practical possibility I can think of for a job search - if you have a lead for a job, make sure they know you're interested, but don't call constantly to check on things. It might be a fine line. Also, this is just an example that may not apply to you.)

"Establish feudal lords" - you said you know who to turn to for help. That could be a "feudal lord."

In general, a feudal lord is anything that helps you in any way.

The Image
"Clouds, thunder,
Sprouting.
A noble one weaves warp and weft."

I don't know anything about weaving, but Hilary says in her commentary that the warp threads are "the strong threads that stay in place so you can weave all the colours of experience into the structure they provide. A noble one weaves with the warp to translate creative chaos into a creative order."

Is there anything about your experience that is like laying a foundation, and then "weaving" things around and through it?

Thanks, Lisa.
Apologies everyone for my English (not my primary language). To answer your question Lisa, Recently someone suggested that I volunteer with an organization where I would like to work. This, to me is the closest to "weaving things around and through". I just started doing volunteer work not just to find a job, rather because being busy helps me keep a positive attitude. Now I am starting to believe that volunteering will indeed help.

I am very grateful for this community. Very grateful for these answers. Thanks again Lisa, thanks to you you, too Juaneros.

Balata, I forgot to mention, in case you don't know - there's a whole thread on hexagram 3 unchanging, here. It might help with your reading.

There are separate threads for all the unchanging hexagrams - here's the index - as well as a thread on unchanging readings in general.

Also, do you know about the Hexagram Search resource? It's found in the menu at the very top of the forum pages (Home | About | Contact | Help | Search | Membership) The Search item is a dropdown - Hexagram Search is one of the options. You specifiy a casting, and it lists threads about that casting. For unchanging readings, check off the "judgment" box and then click on your hexagram.

I agree your 37.2.4 > 1 reading sounds encouraging. Good luck with everything. :)

Oh, one other thing - your original question was, "How long...". You received hexagram 3, and it's hard to see a process of "sprouting" as something that will come to fruition overnight, even if you are on the right track. It still might take some time, unfortunately. (I'm not saying that from any direct experience, just from thinking about the hexagram and wanting to be realistic and fair...)

Thanks for the various links. What I take from all this is to keep on doing what I am doing and look for help when necessary. I guess I just have to be patient.

Hi balata,

Sorry to hear about your job loss, but your attitude is great!

In your situation, I take Water/Thunder to be "Let your outreach rain down everywhere" ~ indicating a strategy for giving yourself the maximum opportunity for good things to happen ~ like keeping many irons in the fire and working with the glowing ones.

So, be patient and actively flowing around, too ~ because, somewhere, 'thirst' is looking for your water...

Good luck!
