I used the free online casting tool again and I asked: "should I give the priority to a PhD (doctorate) in my career?"

Changing lines for hexagram 30
Line 1
'Treading in confusion.
Honour it – not a mistake.'

Line 6
'The king uses this to march out,
There are honours.
He executes the chief – the captives are not so ugly.
Not a mistake.'

Hmm, it lasts 3 years... The lines sound good but maybe not great advantage

You'll feel confused at the beginning, that's normal; then find out what's important and how to manage your energy to reach it without being distracted by petty concerns. Don't expect much at first, go forward little by little.

Ok then I asked another thing to compare it:
"will it be better for me if continue with my path?" (so instead of a PhD, I will get the requirements to work for what I had studied for... It doesn't appeal me a lot now though, I'm questioning if i really want to do that now).
Hex 20.3.4.6 to 31
Hex. 20 Changing Lines
Line 3
'Seeing my life.
Advancing, withdrawing.'

Line 4
'Seeing the realm shining out.
Fruitful and useful to be a guest of the king.'

Line 6
'Seeing their lives.
The noble one is without mistake.'

Two cents:

Having been the director of an office that oversaw doctoral student work at a major University, I had to smile at the Yi's responses. Here's why:

30 The Consuming Flame.

It requires persistence, the light that never goes out. At times, the flame can feel like an obsession, a co-dependent state between you and the passion required to complete. At other times, the passion is nearly extinguished which I liken to burning the candle at both ends, so that the flame nearly is snuffed out.

This dance of passion/persistence I observed in the majority of doctoral candidates. Everyone goes through the passion and burn-out phases. Some get convinced that they have totally lost interest in their subject altogether (which is rarely true).

Line 1
Describes the confusing states for students of this dance to me and addresses your fear about taking this on. The ups and downs are a part of the process ("honour it" ) because...

Line 3
You, having persisted, faced the fears, oppositions, obstacles to receive the honours--the degree and all that comes with it. "Not so ugly" --not as bad as you thought it would be. It's a journey, a process of transformation.

So many candidates, having pursued a doctoral degree and having completed, feel the end to be anti-climatic, but..."Not a mistake."

62 for me so many times has come up related to different forms of communication. This is me. Don't know about anyone else. So I saw this as interesting, but 62 here is almost feeling to me something like...be careful to pace yourself. It's: "don't bite off more than you can chew" and "slow and steady wins the race."

I think the companion question is:

What benefits will I receive if I prioritize this?

And/or

Can I expect to achieve the same things if I choose x instead?

On the back of the earlier post:

It seems that if you choose your current "path" you will reflect, contemplate on your own life and those you observe (20, 3.6) and benefit/learn through that direct experience (4) which will then inform (31) your own understanding and life and/or add to your knowledge (4).

But no honours.
