37.3>42 reading for a friend

I have a friend that wants to postpone her studies and go and see her family in canada and england
She consulted the oracle and recieved 37.3>42
I think the 37.3 could be a really close relationship with her brother
She is quite close to him and is feeling a little lost without him and he is doing his own thing in canada
so she was planning just a short visit with him

I read this as she should go 42 but to be careful not to cramp her brothers style
What do u think

37: THE FAMILY. The perseverance of the woman furthers.

37.3: Nine in the third place means:
When tempers flare up in the family,
Too great severity brings remorse.
Good fortune nonetheless.
When woman and child dally and laugh
It leads in the end to humiliation.

42: INCREASE. It furthers one
To undertake something.
It furthers one to cross the great water.

Hex. 37 talks about each member of a family fulfilling their proper role. In the Wilhelm translation, it suggests that the woman should persevere to achieve a good outcome.
37.3 deals with discipline and favors being more strict rather than lax. If your friend's travel to see her family in Canada is a form of dalliance, then it is not likely to further her goals. Hex. 42 suggests that she should be undertaking something significant, which could be the oracle's way of telling her to pursue her studies rather than submit to her feelings of homesickness.

Steve, I tend to agree that line 3, although it's in hexagram 37 about the Family--still inclines towards saying that while she would be sad to not see her brother, it would not be wise to give in and go see fmaily now--her studies in the long run, will bring her more self-respect and happiness.
