37 crops up regularly in regard to a relationship

Without knowing what your actual question was it is hard to decipher what advice the I Ching is giving you with 37. It does however tell us the most important thing in a Family situation is that one's words and actions match. So perhaps that's why you got yourself in trouble telling your friend you didn't care when the truth was just the opposite!
Your dream was certainly powerful and may have fortold your meeting, but I don't think you can rely on it as an omen the two of you are "meant to be". The matchmaker angels aren't like the marrage angels. They'll do anything to bring two people together but often after they do, they just collect their five dollars and split.

In addition to what Rosada has said, the first thing that pops up when I think of the family (or the text relating to the family) is not intimacy, but rather, how the different members function as one unit. Each member contributes to the family like the pieces fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. I sometimes wonder in some context 37 is about exercising some sort of order or discipline so that the different parts (whichever way you define "parts") complement each other.
As per Rosada, it is difficult to make an interpretation without knowing exactly what you were inquiring about. Were you asking about the state of your relationship? Your state of mind? 37 can mean very different things for different questions.

What sometimes throws people concerning 37 and other group related hexagrams, is when the social group includes no-one but themselves. But seen from the view that Philippa has stated, it's quite easy to see.
It’s clean engineering to design a system made of compatible parts. That means that each individual part moves in perfect synch with the other moving parts, because each part contains the same detail of specs to match the whole working mechanism. A good family is like a Swiss watch, all nicely ticky inside.

aw, Koankai, I'm sorry. You shared with us a very personal experience. I could have been more appreciative. The point I was trying to make was that these visions and dreams so many of us have had from time to time don't always manefest as predicted, and so when you wondered if 37 indicated you and your friend were "meant to be a family" I felt to comment that these omens could be tricky. This is NOT to say that your hopes for a continued relationship can not be fulfilled, but simply that even though you were shown this woman coming into your life, you still have to be alert to the twist and turns of the ever changing tao. But you know this. Anyway, syncronistically we're at 3.5 over on the Memorizing the I Ching thread:

That seems to speak right to the problems of manefesting a vision/blessing!
How do we take our vision and live it with others? One day at a time I guess. Maybe this is also a clue to the meaning of 37 and all the parts of the unit working together like a swiss watch. That it's only by proceeding slowly and getting feed back that we co-ordinate our visions, rather than one person's viewpoint overpowering the other. Anyway, definitely no offense taken by your comments and I hope none taken by mine.
