Dear friends,

up to ten days ago Poppa was an active and dignified 12 years old female cat. Then she started to vomit and stopped eating altogheter.

I just came back from the vet. He believes Poppa has an intestinal tumor but he's not 100% sure. He says the only thing to do is to put her under surgery and look what's there.

By tomorrow I'll have to give the vet a go ahead or a no go sign.

How can I know what to do in such a situation? I asked the I Ching: "How to address Poppa's condition?" The answer is 4.1>41

It seems to me that it could say to go ahead but also not to go too far with it. I'm full of doubt. Yesterday I started to give her Reiki, and it seems (is it my imagination?) that her face has changed, the light in her eyes is different, and after ten days she again stretched herself and scratched her nails on the cane armchair.

Please, help me to understand this answer.

All the best - Emiliana

IMO the answer simply says to "take in charge" your cat, which could refer to both options (depending on what you mean by taking in charge, it can be you treating her or the vet). This depends on your question, which is too vague. The other thing tat is addressed in the reponse is your emotional state (you're very anxious about her and it tells you to decrease your emotions).

What I perceive is that you are afraid of saying yes to surgery and you'd better take care personally of her, if you knew that this is enough to give her health.

I think you should ask this directly: "what perspectives for Poppa if I say no to the vet and take care of her personally?"... then post back!

be sure to take a moment before the casting, emptying yourself from any kind of expectations (even about her health) and honestly assert to yourself that you are ready to accept whatever answer the Yi gives you.

Dear Emiliana,

What I think that the Y is trying to tell you is that you cannot possibly know what the answer is. You are not a Vet, you have no experience in that sort of problem. But because you care so much about Poppa you tend to believe that you can give the right answer to the Vet - the yes or no to surgery. You have tried Reiki and Poppa seems to have responded well, but you do not know that for sure, either.

So, that is what I think your reading is about, you don't have to know, because you don't have the experience or training. I have got a cat about the same age as yours and I know how you feel.

There is a suggestion from Tiziano for you to re-phrase your question that seems a good idea. Please let us know how things go.

Take care:bows:

How to address Poppa's condition?
4.1 > 41

Ask more fundamental questions. I don't think a cat can go without liquids for ten days, and if not eating, Poppa should show signs of starvation. Two weeks ago my cat began vomiting and did not eat for two days. I asked my sister for a slice of the honey-cured, thin-sliced sandwich ham that she feeds to her dog (I knew the cat liked it) and the cat ate it immediately. Because of sickness the food she was used to had become distasteful to her. I got her another brand of cat food, and everything has gone well since. So, try that with Poppa. If Poppa has an intestinal blockage, there are specific signs:

"Painful and/or Swollen Abdomen
If your cat is showing obvious signs of a swollen or sensitive abdomen, it may have an intestinal blockage. A cat with abdomen pain will often lie with its chest pressed against the floor and its buttocks in the air. A painful or swollen abdomen is generally sensitive to touch. Most cats begin to experience other symptoms shortly after pain begins."

I wish you the best with Poppa. My cat is curled up in my lap and purring to me as I write this.

Hi Tiziano, Mirian e Pocossin, Thank you so much for your reply. It took me a while to come back to onlineclarity, but my focus kept being here.

About the formulation of my question: from experience I noticed that the more I try to corral the I Ching in the lane I want it to perform for me, the more vague is it's answer, so I like to put forth the core of my concern and let it answer the way it deems appropriate.

About Poppa, it turned out that it was not a tumor but pancreatitis. So also the vet didn't really know a the time of my asking the I Ching. I didn't know, he didn't know... Hex 4.

About the first changing line, I think it meas that Poppa suffers all the restraint and the things forces on her, like being put in a box, travel in a car (horrible!) take injections and being hydrated with intraQ drip on a daily basis.

I keep giving Reiki to her and last night I saw her walking to her bowl and eat. Little, very little, but between little and nothing, I welcome little.

She's still not out of the woods but I feel very optimistic.

Love you all.
