It says you should have more independence in regard to him. Perhaps you enjoy his flattery too much and have come to depend on it. Something of that nature. Maybe you spend too long thinking about him as an idle amusement, rather than getting on with your own things. Suggests you have slowed down your own life simply to gaze at him. Snap out of it, he won't go away, he'll probably take you more seriously.
