My question to Yi was about a person, who is giving mixed signals, and
claims he is a very good and pure person. But expresses rather controversial views on life - which
I dont know how to take...It sounds even cynical to a point...

To crack this task I asked - Is Mr. X a cynical person (pretender/double standards)?
Of course time can tell, but at the moment I just need to know from Yi...
And got 42...
Which I have no idea how to interpret...

Hmmm this is a very tricky one!

Well 42 is about increase... So according to what you've said about this guy, I think the reading means he thinks very highly about himself, i.e. puts himself above others.

OR it could mean you'll get increasingly irritated with him..

It's difficult... but something along those lines.

Wow interesting....yes he can be over the top with everything he says...but i just cannot figure out is it more of a good or bad thing...
Something is definitely building up....
I just dont know if i should take this hex simply and literally as Increase or take its meaning, which is quite positive. And talks about many
Blessings and fortune.

In other words, Yi could mean maybe:
1) oh yes, he is cynical BIG way
Or
2) hello! He is so great, cant you see how great he is. Dont worry!

See my point ;) ?

42 Wilhelm:
Wind and thunder: the image of INCREASE.
Thus the superior man:
If he sees good, he imitates it;
If he has faults, he rids himself of them.

While observing how thunder and wind increase and strengthen each other, a man can note the way to self-increase and self-improvement.
When he discovers good in others, he should imitate it and thus make everything on earth his own. If he perceives something bad in himself, let him rid himself of it. In this way he becomes free of evil.
This ethical change represents the most important increase of personality.

If you are comfortable with his views, so that you can accept them and imitate them - ok.
If not - get away from him.

Kudos, ashteroid!
Sounds like I need to get to know him more, and then get away if not feeling we hold same values..

42 could just imply he's an extrovert. Expressive, maybe sometimes controversial, doesn't hold back. Whether he's compatible with you is something only you and he can determine.

Maybe this is advice for you to respond to what this person says that is positive and when you wonder if he is being cynical look within and see if you yourself are cynical?
Personally I think you should just flat out ask him, "Do you really mean that or are you just being cynical?"

In my experience I've found that people who talk a lot about being positive seem to also give themselves permission to be very negative as in, "I want to help humanity and be a force for good in the world and show people that life can be wonderful...because the government is trying to control us and the environment is destroyed and we're all going to hell in a hand basket!!!"
By the way, there was a book that came out years ago titled The Games People Play. This sort of conversation was called playing "Ain't it awful?" where people stand around and talk about how terrible it all is but to no purpose. The conversation doesn't lead to any action. To politely get out of the loop you say, "Let's not play this game."

Rosada, after I told him I was a bit shocked by his views he agreed with me, that he thinks the same as me...so I could not really tell what he really thought, because after hearing my confusion and shock, he immediately started talking like me...as if he thinks the same...
42 talks about imitation...that might be it
