By the 5th of Jan I have to apply or not for an additional module. I'm still in two minds because it overlaps with the current one which is pretty demanding and from the next month the big projects start.

If I apply, i'll gain some time and finish earlier but on the other hand it will be very stressful , time wise and money wise. I discuss it with a couple of friends and they agree with my idea not to do it. The previous year was not an easy one, so pushing myself harder than necessary is not that wise.

I toss on the Q "what if I take this overlapping course" and got 43.5 >34
From LiSe's and Bradford's commentaries I feel that the answer is not to do it and follow a middle way. Hex 34 also maybe talks about push too much.

Wilhelm is not that clear, to me, in regards to my question.

Any additional input would be much appreciate

Thanks in advance

43.5 >34

43.5
In dealing with weeds,
Firm resolution is necessary.
Walking in the middle
Remains free of blame.

A weed is a plant out of place. Gardening is a struggle to keep up with the weeds. I agree that 43.5 and hexagram 34 suggest that taking an extra module would be a struggle.

I think also generally because the tide of the times is so tumultuous that taking on on what is necessary or essential is best. But also because of the inherent caution require is hex 43 and 34's tendency to push too hard too soon.

Yes, i remember someone telling me about his annual fight with they yard's weeds. It was what first came into my mind.

I can see what Whilhelm says about the struggle and the possibility to become a hopeless struggle. "One has certain relations with him, hence there is danger that one may give
up the struggle as hopeless."
. This could mean that if i take this module I probably just pass it but will certainly jeopardize my whole performance.

still not get completely how "firm resolution" and "walking in the middle" can co-exist in this line. Maybe "firm resolution" here means Just take a decision and forget about this dilemma.

Another thing I not clear is what Brad means when he says " maybe all he needs here is a better name than weed" Perhaps "weeds" are all the modules still need to take ?

Yes, there is a truth here. Thank you !

I have the support of my friends regarding the financial part so here is not the biggest problem although I would prefer not to put extra obligation in that respect. 34, and its explosiveness its what it holds me back from applying. The danger to blow out the whole thing is very possible. This is why I should be extra careful on what I will decide.

while I'm not very comfortable with my understanding of this line's details, I decided not to take this module. If I'll enroll what Wilhelm says :" One must go on resolutely
and not allow himself to be deflected from him course." would be true.

Thanks again for your help :)

Hi, Tom:

Struggle indeed. Even more when you're aware what sort of weed is about. some translators give AMARANTHUS, say, unfading flower or undying plant, something hard to kill, something that can grow out of control. XIAN is also translated as CHINESE SPINACH. Remember Popeye: an edible plant that grants special powers, a shamanic plant.

Legge brings PURSLANE, buit I believe that the plant is the POKEWEED, being 莧陸 xian4 lu4 an alternative name for 商陸 SHANG LU (1), which is the Phytolacca acinosa Roxb. something like the Phytolacca americana L aca POKEWEED, a beautiful but dangerous bush with invasive tendency.

Some testimonies:

Well, because the birds love it...it will appear all over your yard. If you pull up the seedlings in their first year, you will be okay. If you don't....those things grow really big taproots really quickly, and you will rue the day you ever planted it. And yes, the birds will poop purple!

Poke is a beautiful plant. The bright red/purple stalks, if you have room for it on your place. It is easy to whack it out if you see some sprouts that you dont want to allow to mature.
I will always allow a few to live in my space.

Cooked pokeberry leaves are edible, and a common side dish in Southern cooking. They taste better when they are young and tender, before the berries develop. The berries and older leaves are poisonous - more dangerous to livestock than humans.

This week my pokeweeds have attracted lots of birds including cedar waxwings, robins, eastern bluebirds, swainson's thrushes, gray-cheeked thrushes, gray catbirds, mockingbirds, and a late scarlet tanager. I think they're a blessing.

Thousands of seeds laying dormant have sprouted. I've been weeding and digging it out all spring and summer. I like having a few, but don't need three thousand of them.
Here's a pic I took in July showing how vigorously it has sprouted.

Spreading resolutely, beautiful and dangerous, almost like LOVE.

Yours,

Dear María:

I also believe that the advice of 43.5 is BETTER BE CAUTIOUS, BEFORE THE CHALLENGE GROW OUT OF CONTROL TAKE THE MIDDLE WAY. DON'T BEHAVE IMPULSIVELY.

Wilhelm of course did some little emmendations in the sintax, see:

Ch.

I won't, thanks Charly .:)
And... just in case... i'll lock my laptop and credit card till the deadline expires :D

I was preoccupied with the weeds of 43.5 and missed the obvious "derailing from my goal"

Hi, Chingching:

Love your H.43 «tendency to push too hard too soon», a very good insight and strong based, I belive.

All the best,

Charly
