44.2 + 38.2.4 = Hollywood Ending or Otherwise

I asked for a Prediction (naughty). Big "r" Romantic if not big "l" Love.

Anyway readings as follows:

44.2;

followed by 62 unmoving:

then a 38.2.4 tiebreak.

My question is serious, despite the repetition--genuinely trying to figure it out.

This relationship going anywhere?

Quick read suggests:

Absolutely yes if stranded like 2x people on a desert island.

Possibly, pending real-life test flight.

But if I am too much like the female character in any American film c. 1943-1952 (strong, willful) not a chance.

44.2 seems to speak of a successful contact with someone!
But I think as always with 44 it's important to be aware that you don't allow the other force ie the other person to gain the upper hand, or have too much influence over your daily life and who you are.. So don't get too excited and put all your cards on the table as it were...

38.2, 4 > 27 also sounds good.

In a hex about people opposing one another or going their seperate ways, here, 38.2 suggests there could be some misunderstanding but that your inner affinity will overide that - which also makes for a more interesting partnership if you're different and disagree because then you're challenged and hence learn more...?

38. 4 says the same... suggesting that on the surface you may seem completely different - in nature, interests, views - but that on a deeper more psychological and emotional level you connect...

And so then all this adds up to nourishment for the both of you!! (hex 27)

Hopefully How's it going? Argued yet?
Perhaps you make a bit of the odd couple because to outsiders you may appear completely different??

Interesting you ask whether we've argued yet--for the first time, last week. A few days before I got these (yarrow stalk, which I somehow take more seriously than coin method) readings.

Things are still a bit out of joint but we seem to be getting past it.

Also interesting you ask about appearances. He describes himself as "an outsider among outsiders" but I never met anyone who seems less fit to that description. Of course I think I'm the real outsider--despite painstaking upkeep of appearances.

I genuinely appreciate the comments, having always found 44 a puzzle. I kind of dread 62 but have learned to live with it; 38 is practically my favorite hexagram. So this was a hard series of responses for me to interpret.

You want a prediction, then lets do it.

This relationship will slide downhill from here on in. Line 44.2 is not good and goes to Hex 33, retreat, so you will back off sooner or later from him.

Hex 62 is telling you that big things cannot be achieved and is warning you to not to try and fly with this guy but to remain very grounded.

I can live with this interpretation, though 44.2 does not seem so unambiguously negative, judging by the archive.

The Marshall book didn't give me much cause for optimism on it though & 62 is at best neutral-to-negative.

38.2,4 >27 was my tiebreaker here. Hexagram 44 applies to this situation with 100% accuracy, but I thought perhaps 38 lined those 62 clouds with a little silver?

A marginally related anecdote: after the verdict in the original O.J. Simpson trial had been reached but before it was announced, I did a couple of readings to see how closely the I Ching would call it. The first hexagram it gave me was 62, no moving lines. I laughed--"preponderance". Aha for sure, but not conclusive. So I cast again & got 38.5, which seemed unambiguous. Happily ever after!

I should probably have confined my post to the question of 44.2. In fact I would love to hear anecdotal takes on this, if anyone has lived to tell how that line panned out for them.

After a scroll through the archives, I see few hexagrams have provoked more argument on this board than 44. So here's the background, which is practically soaked in lighter fluid.

The "dark" element has been lurking for a long while but only recently began to affect our relationship. In part, I allowed it by finally agreeing to go out with him. It got further when, finally sure of his attraction, I acknowledged my own. Things have continued to advance in this way; I would now say we're involved, though not irreversibly, in a Romantic relationship.

I am not fooling myself, or rather am trying not to. The problems are of 3.6 magnitude (a line I've also received in asking about this) & I can easily imagine 44 turning into a 33 here. The specific meaning of 44.2 interests me especially for this reason, however. Is it saying: this relationship is fine for you, for now, but contain it? Is it saying I need to root him entirely out of my life? Or is it indicating--for after all, there is a "fish in the wrapper"--that this relationship has a definitely positive aspect?

I have never known 33 to indicate backing off from a person--it almost always seems to refer to a situation. The various stages of backing on & off *persons* is, in my experience, the realm of 44.

Came across this thread while looking into the ever-puzzling 38.5 & thought I should provide an update.

Willowfox was right on the money with her 44.2 prediction. Things did pretty much slide downhill from that point, though it took a very long time to hit bottom.

I see WF is banned again (permanently this time, it appears) but in the same spirit I asked just now for a new prediction--same relationship, same question, now after months of estrangement: 46.2.3.5.6 & 35.2.

There's enough feeling there to still ask the question, though I do begin to get over it. Not going to hang much on either reading but figured why not add to the record.
