hello to all,

i need your help please.

i am a freelancer and a very important client/business partner told me today
that they asked a second freelancer (same work area) to work with them too
(because they are growing).
so i got a competitor now.
i was surprised… did not see that coming… so i asked:

how will this go on with this client and our projects together?
47.4 > 29

line 4 speaks of distress:
the stress for me was during the last few month because of to much work to do.
but how to interpret the rest?... will they still like to work with me or do they try to replace me?
i allways had the impression they liked my work during the last 5 years.
its very important to me... because i want to move to a new place very soon and need to know about my income in the near future somehow...

Hello Masami,

I do not have much experience with the I Ching, I would offer my vision of your situation.

The line 4 says that the subject is going very slowly oppressed in a golden carriage. I take the golden carriage here as your pride and ambition. It looks as if you are hit in your pride (you wrote about the second freelancer as your competitor). Feeling hit prevents you from going fast in decisions, intentions... Perhaps, it prevents you from declaring your discontent.

It seems to me that the best advice here is not to take the second employee as your competitor, but just a newcomer and just a co-worker. That will help you mark down your anxiety.

If you please, I would add several words. The hex 47 means oppression and being confined. I suppose that I would not make a mistake if I would assume that you feel limited by your client since the working area you dealt with before undividedly has been divided between two of you. You started contemplating about the cause of hiring the second employee, and this very moment, from my point of view, is marked with what we call "double danger" here, hex 29. I'll explain.

The danger here is in your wish to study out what made your client hire the second employee. Having started speculating you could find yourself in a situation which exists in your imagination only and has nothing in common with reality. Speculations will not help you reveal the truth, they will lead you to the thicket of false statements and prescriptions which are not based on the facts, but on your hit pride only. That's why the second danger I see here is being weak-spirited and scared. Rivalry is not a reason to be scared, but an opportunity to become yourself.
