Need clarification on my reading.Been seeing an old friend of mine and have caught him in several lies.Asked iching the following:How should I handle "x" constant lying?" and Yi's answer, 48.2.3 to 8.How should I interpret this reading. I'm very new to I-ching.

Is this person just a friend or more and are these lies white lies or more severe lies? Is this person making 'reality' a bit nicer than it really is, is he/she trying to hide something (by the way in my opinion there is a difference between "several lies" and "constant lying" ;))

The way I see it is that the Yi is advising you to give it some time and see what happens.

LiSe's translation of hex 48
The trigrams: above wood there is water:
Above wood there is water, a well. The noble one encourages the toiling people to stand by each other.
Water is the soul. If on the outside, it is the soul you share with others. Your empathy, connection, and also their feelings towards you and each other. Wood is influence and growth, it is the source of the well of your inspiration. If you share a well with others, you can work and live together in harmony.
The lines 2 & 3 together with hex 8 (Bonding) seem to indicate to be not to hard on this person.

Let's be honest, everybody lies every now and then. Are you squeaky clean yourself :D

Whether new or not you can't truly start to understand readings unless you have you own ideas about the meaning whatever they are. It's your reading so whatever others say there will be things they can't see that you can.

From my point of view a reading isn't really as knowable unless the one who asks is present and engaged with the meaning for them.
