48.5 to 46 setback for operation

I have decided to have an operation and went to the pre- op assessment today. All tiketiboo until they took my blood pressure. 192/115 then 170/100 then 153/110. They have said they cannot so the op until this is lower

I have always had widely differing blood pressure I had it some in hospital a few months ago and it did the same then. It started off at 200/100 and ended up at 117/78. Last month it was 154/90. When I wake in the morning it is perfectly normal readings consistently

I am not asking for medical opinion but have a dilemma with op dates. I can try and get it down for my op date in August or delay the op date for longer - and risk delaying operation

I got this funnily for my original condition back in May when I asked what the outcome of my illness would be

The reading feels very cleansing as if cool water is being poured over me
Any thoughts would be appreciated on the meaning of the cool water

Xx:confused:

Did you tell them you had a history of widely differing blood pressures ? You see if you have a history of it they don't seem to mind so much.

I went for my pre op for same op and they noted my heart was fast....but when I told them my heart was always fast and it had been checked out and it was fine, they let me go ahead.

My GP now knows my heart is often very fast even if I am relaxed so she doesn't bother too much about it now because it's normal for me. When I first saw her she had me having an ECG on the spot.

Isn't the decision up to them ? I mean how are you meant to get your blood pressure down ?

My blood pressure is very low which combines interestingly with a fast heart

I'm a bit confused when you say

I thought you said they refuse to do your op in August ...?

Anyway the practical solution is book it for August then if it isn't possible re book after that. BTW I was expecting to wait months, had my pre op, was deemed fit enough for operation and asked if I wanted to go on cancellation list. I said yes. They rang me later that same day and booked me in for the following Saturday. Just thinking if you can get it down if you agree to go in short notice you might get it done very soon, sooner than end of August.

48.5..? well it's a good auspice for health. Things flow, energy is available. The well may be the services you receive from the hospital. 48.5 highly skilled Drs ? Whether one takes 48.5 as health or whether one takes it as about treatment it is well auspiced.

BTW you didn't actually say what the question was ?

BTW re the fast heart query in my pre op, the nurse was able to confirm what I said as she had notes from previous heart checks...but I had the feeling I needed to point out to her it was normal for me...

Maybe if you can get your GP to confirm you just tend to have fluctuating blood pressure ? Or something. Perhaps you could have another chat with pre op ?

To return to the reading 48.5 would indicate there are no setbacks, there is nothing stopping the water from the well reaching you. That is one reason why, in your shoes, I might be calling them up again, ...I think I'd certainly book for August anyway

The nurse just said that I could keep the appointment in late August and try and reduce my blood pressure or I could delay the op and wait longer for the op

I think your advise of keeping it for the end of August and then seeing - I can always wait a bit then
My ECG was fine.

Thanks so much
Feeling a bit grubby now - like I need a long shower..

This just seems very vague. How would you be able to reduce your own blood pressure....how would you even know what it is ? Are there home blood pressure kits or something and even if there are how could you guarantee your bp would be okay the day of the operation ? And why would waiting longer mean lower blood pressure ? Makes no sense to me. I'd want more clarity. Clear communication. I wouldn't leave the nurse until I was clear. Maybe you are clear...hehe well your 48.5 water is clear anyway. I guess to try to get it steadily lower you'd need the help of your GP

Yes she meant
That I could have medication to get it down for the 24 or I could see how things went and go for another assessment in September
Went to GP today and will have a 24 hour monitor next week

Just an update
There is a pod at the surgery where you can take your own blood pressure reading
130/85. Then 124/80 then 128/81. Much less
I think I have white coat syndrome
They couldn't get blood either --

Feeling very well and will just wait for a reading before op
Think that stress does not help but have put it all to the back of my mind - can't do anything right now other than nettle tea
