Hi Frank,

How interesting the Pineal in Dutch is Pain Tree.

ravenstar

Made a mistake in the translation, Pineal in Dutch is Pain apple, the pain from eating the apple of knowledge.

After reading Meng's comment that 48.6 is open to all I was fooling around with the opposite of 48, hexagram 21. Interesting to note that 21.6 is the visual of something completely covered up, the complete opposite of 48.6.

I'm really glad you used the straightforward version... when we take an idea, thought and become attached to it, run with it, we corrupt it? We lose the truth by seeing 'only one way' or what we could gain or show for it? ... we've put a fence around our consciousness...
Janice:

Thanks very much for your kind concepts. I believe that the well means a public source, a source for all people. Whatever intent for appropriation will extinguish the source.

In Tagore words:

Why did the lamp go out?
I shaded it with my cloak to save it from the wind, that is why the lamp went out.

Why did the flower fade?
I pressed it to my heart with anxious love, that is why the flower faded.

Why did the stream dry up?
I put a dam across it to have it for my use, that is why the stream dried up.

Why did the harp-string break?
I tried to force a note that was beyond its power, that is why the harp-string is broken.

Rosa, interesting connection with 21.6. There was a matter presented to me today that showed this exact contrast. One person wanted to leave the well open for any and all to take from, while the other didn't wanna hear it, and wanted to keep the cover on the well. But the second one's motives weren't necessarily bad. I think it was out of a sense of over protection, more than out of selfishness to keep it all. What if it gets into the wrong hands? That sort of thing.

It reminds me of the biblical comparison of 'scattering of seeds hilariously' vs carefully planting only in the good soil. The first isn't selective about where the seeds fall, while the second (21.6) has impossible standards to meet. Natural selection gets choked to death from predetermination.

We don't give nature enough credit. We are less than infants at her breast. The well goes all the way back there, not just to the little closed-in pail of water, that we call "me".

That's the same problem as with the phrase: God is in me. If you take "me" as the person you think you are, then what does God in me mean? It makes no sense. How can God be contained in a little closed up pail of water? Only from a source that can't be contained, it can't run dry; the more you take, the fuller it gets. I don't think this is just a metaphor. I think, on some level, it's science.
