49:1,3,6>12 buying property in co-housing

Hi everybody!

I am a member since a couple of years but I am new to the forums. I work with the I Ching from time to time since 5 years and I found it a impressing source of wisdom.

This time I am not sure about what it wants to tell me.... maybe somebody can help. The question I asked was

How will it affect our lives in the coming 7 years if we buy the property next to our friends? (with the intention to have a little cohousing with more friends)

49 and the lines kind of seem to give me more a response about the decision process (to buy or not to buy the property), than about the question I asked. But actually, the real question behind is of course should we buy or not. But I did want to avoid a yes or no question because I know thats often dificult for the I Ching to respond.

The second hexagram, 12, kind of gives a not so good outlook on the future...., or what do you think? problems on the horizon if we buy it? Or should we buy it because we were already called 3 times, and hesitating wouldnt be wise like it says in 49?

49 is the abolishing the past, but it is indicative of strains in the family and that there will be great toil and drudgery if you buy. It will result in a very bad situation, 12, which is more toil and drudgery. 49 is good for the actual move to the house, and it often indicates a new residence. However, it appears to me that while the buy is good, it will not over the seven years to have a good affect on your (plural) life.

i sometimes feel the Yi just confirms my intuition.

How do you feel about this opportunity? If it doesnt
sit right hold tight - if in doubt do nothing as we say
up north.

49 is a good ol shake up sometimes not a bad thing but
12 - are you sure your friends would be so cool all the
time - it indicates being static no air or movement -
feel you may outgrow something but be confined due to
this choice?

maybe presume on the Yi a second time as ask what form
this stagnation would take. It might draw your inner eye
- is there a damp problem maybe? i see air not circulating
just my 2 cents

Yes, actually, I do not feel very enthusiastic about the opportunity... only my friends do. I cannot see a reason to not feel good about it..... but maybe there is one..

damp problem, thats good! The property is right in front of a swamp, near the source of a stream. Last time we visited we saw a dead horse in the swamp that obviously couldnt get out and died.

I wouldn't be in such a hurry to see 12 in a negative light.
"Separating oneself from inferior people" could even be referring to getting away from the masses and norms and surrounding yourself with a better class of folk, more like- minded and looking to a better future. That's not necessarily negative, but it is selective.
