Hi, everyone

First, let me ask you to forgive me for my eventual mistakes, because English is not my native language.

This is my first post here, although I'm not new to reading clarity forums. I'm familiar with the I Ching for 15 years now, I've read a lot about it (well, not as much as some of you...) and I sometimes consult the oracle.

This time I need your help because I'm in a whole new situation and I don't think I can see clearly. I met someone online, I was not searching for anybody and I don't think he was either. We met on a social network, because we were playing the same game!

Anyway, we started to chat and now we talk almost everyday. We are miles apart, we live in different countries and have different nationalities. I like this guy and I think he likes me too, so I asked the I Ching "What's the future of this relationship?" receiving hex. 49 with changing lines 2, 5 and 6, transforming into hex. 14.

Your insights will be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yi thinks this relationship is a Great Possession (H14), for both giving and getting, but there is an indication that it will cause a Revolution (H49), a Moulting and Putting on of a New Skin. The lines are strong lines about individual changes and how they affect you and people around you.

It is hard to put any romantic spin on this reading. A close friendship, and one that strongly influences your direction, or perhaps you influence his?

Someone should do more with the individual lines, but I think I would need to know more about the parties and the environment to guess any further meaning.

The nuclear hexagram inside the H49 is hexagram 44, great instinctive and mutual attraction. But in this case, at a great distance, which tempers the more uncontrollably magnetic aspects of hexagram 44.

Seems like it will settle down into a real sense of fellowship. You may have thoughts of going to meet him in person, but line 6 moving says: "good fortune to those who remain where they are."

It is said that 'like a tiger' and 'like a leopard' do not have any connotation of fierceness or animalistic behavior. The striped skin of the tiger is brilliant. The spots of the leopard are beautiful.

All the moving lines mean that you change your mind -- a couple of times. These shifts in awareness are very positive.

Hexagram 14 often points to the accumulation not of material wealth but of 'heavenly' or higher treasures, knowledge or wisdom of some kind.

Tiger, you're right: more details about the parties involved would definitely help with the interpretation... and Ginnie, spot on! Too much time on the internet, and I'm really wondering how can this even BE??

This guy and I both have IT related jobs. While my work is steady, he travels around the globe and is currently away from home. Synchronicity is the word here, and it's the way things happened that really is keeping me puzzled. I just keep thinking: what am I doing, talking with this guy about everything, politics, religion, travels, personal lives... Why am I investing time in something that maybe never becomes more than virtual? On the other hand, I'm just glad and grateful I met him, and I'm letting it flow... waiting for the higher treasures, I guess but a bit afraid of the revolution part.

a bit afraid of the revolution part.

It doesn't mean a revolution like the French revolution, with the crowds thirsting to see the severed heads rolling. It just means that it's time for a change.

H14 as the relating hexagram indicates a relationship of great depth and wisdom. It will not be characterized by great passion, but rather by being exceedingly well-ordered.

You might be wondering: How will the 'revolution' affect my family members or other people around me? But this is a kind of revolution that will benefit your family members or any other people connected with you, provided they are let in on any external changes you plan to implement in your life, e.g., schedule changes. The people in your life should be part of this process.

Any changes you bring about on the external level will benefit all around you.

Any changes you bring about within yourself will also benefit those around you.

Therefore, everybody will benefit from your synchronous relationship and nobody will suffer from it. The shifts that occur will mostly be in your own awareness, and they will be welcome changes for the better. Please be reassured that there is nothing to be afraid of.

I just wanted to give you some feedback about this situation. My friend and I are still talking regularly and we keep sharing more details about our lives. In fact we are helping each other with major changes that are coming to both our lives - how about that? - we are both divorced for some time now and we are both selling our houses now as a mean to help us get a fresh start in life... Isn't the Yi great? I really value this relationship and I still don't know where it's going, but for the moment it is what it is...
