50 to 8

I have an interesting thing happening with the Yi lately. It's clear I'm moving along my path pretty smoothly now...a little glitch here and a little glitch there, but over the years the 'repeated' themes have changed...evolved...as I've evolved. There's been a particularly noticeable change since my Hex 26 experience. I have a fairly new one now that seems to occur when I ask about taking action toward entering this upcoming 'mystery' career/project. For the past week or so, the Yi has been answering those questions with 50 change to 8. I don't believe I've ever had 50 to 8 before, and now I'm getting it frequently. (That would be all but the first line changing in 50.)

Are they suggesting I pray? Enter a nunnery? Sacrifice my first-born? Do they want some of the jambalaya I made for dinner last night? What?

I know that I'm supposed to wait just a tad longer to take action because when I mentioned it today, they answered 30.2 to 14.

Knowing that I'm supposed to wait and that this opportunity is just around the corner, why do you suppose they are telling me 50 to 8 now? I'm stumped.

Just briefly, hexagram 49 tells us about reformation, or revolution, and hexagram 50 describes the new order after the revolution. Ideally, this new order is glorious in comparison with the old. With 50 changing to 8 I suspect that the new order will also involve new friendships and acquaintances. I also suspect that you may have something of a leading role or at least a significant part in this "new order." (I also assume this is not Bush's concept of the 'new world order') Notice in the second line it says, "my comrades are envious of me, but they cannot harm me." Perhaps it is they who cause the handles to be altered and spill the meal to spite you. Amidst all difficulties, all goes well, however, and the new glorious era is not to be denied, and line 5 and 6 are the fruits of our labors and endeavors. The fifth line, being the ruler, when the hexagram changes to number 8, the fifth line says, let those go who do not wish to participate, and deal with those who do. Perhaps the envious people will be gone. Perhaps too, this makes no sense at all. Let me know, if you will, what you think.

Seems to me you are being led into this future endevour by fate, and that sacrificing your hopes or fears to your fate will bring you together with this endeavor, as it is meant to be.

30 to 14 also speaks to holding with inner richness and sacrificing anxiety.

I got a visual of 50 the other day, I saw myself standing in the middle of a city, with swirling waves of energy emanating from me and reaching up to the skies like an energetic tornado (a bit like a character from those japanese comics kids love these days). I think the point of 50 is becoming that human vortex that is able to converge and act upon the primordial energies of the cosmos. That doenst have to be done in great cosmic, but the saddest thing is not being able to swirl, even just a little, this sea of energy around us

Regarding the change to 8, its hard to interpret such changes on the basis of the lines. That would be my first attempt, though. But perhaps you better drew your own conclusion of what a change (or interchange) between these two means in gloabal ways. Or perhaps you just need to focus on both equally, I find the Yi sometimes needs to use a lot of lines to bring a relating hexagram in, but it doesnt "mean" the lines texts. The path may also ring a bell: 50:2, 56:3, 35:4, 23:5, 8
If you got this particular change more than once, then its certainly worth it trying several approaches, namely that change on the yilin, which you might ask LiSe to translate to you (in the yilin thread)

50: make your state in order. Collect all the necessary ingredients and make your own perfect jambalaya, fit for the gods. Give your life substance, give it balance and coherence.
8: organize your assets, friends, allies, helpers, tools, whatever you need to make things work. Yu assembled the chiefs to organize the clans, so they could conquer future floods together.
I think the combination of 50 and 8 is about organizing your life.
