53.1.4 > 13 Re: Relationship potential

Hi again,

I had drinks with an interesting women last night. We were born 9 days apart and carry ourselves in a remarkably similar fashion. Likewise to myself she seems very hard to read and I couldn't really sense if there was chemistry between us.

So I asked what kind of relationship could we create together and received 53.1.4 changing to 13

What I've taken away so far from 53 in this context is that the relationship would develop gradually if I were to attempt courting her.

"The development of events that leads to a girl's following a man to his home proceeds slowly. The various formalities must be disposed of before the
marriage takes place."

53.1 - Begin at the beginning, as a beginner it'll be easy to run into difficulties. Be clear when talking about the situation with her.
53.4 - Temporarily in an unusual situation

Resulting in 13 - Together in a neutral place, not a passionate connection with someone

So what I feel it is saying is if I were to go after her the most I might expect is friendship.

I've been rethinking this reading since going on a second date with her. It seems to make more sense to use the relating hexagram (13) as the context in this instance rather than the result.

So in that light I see the two of us starting in 13 -- together but not in a passionate sense. Nevertheless, I'm really at a loss with the changing lines here and how they relate to the situation.

Perhaps the first line described our first date.


The wild goose gradually draws near the shore.
The young son is in danger.
There is talk. No blame.

Not sure about line 4 either

The wild goose goes gradually draws near the tree.
Perhaps it will find a flat branch. No blame.

Could this line be describing the type of relationship that we could eventually form? or should I look at the overall hexagram 53 for that.

Anyway, we had a really great time on our last date. It was an unique and adventurous experience that required us to work together, which it seems we do really well together. even only having just met we seem to be able to communicate on a non-verbal level. I'm really impressed by her so far.

Perhaps 53 is just a reminder that real relationships with deep connections develop gradually.

In an effort to find more clarity, I just asked what is our potential as a couple and received 56 unchanging... unfortunately I'm as lost with this as I was when I started. Maybe I'm not asking the right question.

We spent our date using a couple forms of transportation. I really liked her car and how she drives it. Most American women don't drive stick shift. I was impressed that she did. We spent most of the date out sailing which she really enjoyed. She took the initiative to take the helm, which again I was impressed by.

So perhaps hexagram 56 means we'll be doing some traveling as partners.

Especially line 53.4, and hexagram 56.
