Hello everyone,

First of all, many thanks to all who have given of their time and knowledge.

As some of may already know, I am developing a relationship with a celebrity.

I needed to know what my conduct should be over the next few days as I wait for her response, and so I asked Yi, "How shall I conduct myself towards ****** during the next few days?" The response is 55.1.2.6 > 50 The question I have is, how does one act as "Fire rises hot and bright from the Wood beneath the sacrificial caldron: The Superior Person positions himself correctly within the flow of Cosmic forces. Supreme Accomplishment?"

I am totally confused on this one. On the surface, it seems supremely good, but I am but a newbe at this and my green is definitely showing here. How do I conduct myself? It almost sounds as if we might have a cookout! Is this like a family event or something?

Hello Davy! I wonder if the IC is simply saying don't focus excessively on this. There is probably more detail to it, but 55 is generally excess. In this case could be excessive focus and thinking. I think it is saying give her a little space and just back off a little. And hexagram 50, The Cauldron, implies to let things simmer. The Cauldron, hexagram 50, is where food is prepared. A slow meal. Like a meal with someone. I wonder if it saying don't worry so much, there will be a connection or at least the beginning of one. But give it time, and things will start cooking... Then may be saying to ask her to dinner? Yes, that actually makes sense. Have you considered asking her to dinner? Maybe should back off a bit, but start planning the date... After some time has passed, and if the I Ching gives you a go, ask her for the dinner date... Let's see what some of the other members say?

Sorry to interrupt but I just got this hexagram while asking what happened with this guy. So he sent me some quote about being in love and that it is an illness like many others but i did not get it was a quote! i met this guy just saturday! i answered that was very nice and all but that he shouldn't mix up love and lust... and than he said i did not get it... MAJOR blunder so my cards are all out! I am currently so incredibly embarassed but I think the IC is telling me exactly what white ferret is telling me: just back off and stop apologising (I will try to make him forget the incident).

Anyways we are meeting for dinner next week! So very appropriate! Love the IC

Hello friend:

I Ching uses metaphors to decribe the future. Why doesn't I Ching answer people's questions directly? Because each text of I Ching corresponds to many cases. For example, Tom asked question A and got Text X in I Ching, Jack asked quesiton B and also got Text X, but Text X has different meanings in a different cases. So although Tom and Jack got the same "text", they got different "answers" about the future.

So what does Hexagram 50 mean? When we are cooking, we put all kind of food(vegetables, meat...) into the caldron. The well-cooked food will become more delicious than before. That is the effect of "1+1>2". In fact, Hexagram 50 means that you should gather materials and make more preparations to get better results. For example, You want to develope a relationship with her, but do you understand her well? Perhaps you should know more about her and prepare some topics for her during the next few days.

Hi Davy

I agree with others who say that your reading might represent excess. My experience of 55, or at least some lines of it, is that there is too much of something, which you should be able to identify what it is better than I can.

But I think the Yi is saying to you that there is potential in this relationship, as long as you don't expect too much too soon. The need for curbing excess is suggested in all your lines. Too much worry affecting your capacity to see things as they are? Too many people interfering, things can be blown out of proportion? I would especially keep an eye on line 6. You might try too hard to make this relationship work, over analysing the situation itself and constantly trying to figure the other person out. And the more you try to look closely the more distant you become. Take care :bows:
