It's difficult to write this but I'm in the midst of a crazy mind with fearful thoughts.

It's been just over two months since I had surgery to straighten the septum in my nose and a turbinate reduction. Turbinates are bony soft tissue just above the inside of your nose. My issues have been with the turbinate reduction. I don't want to go into the all the details because I don't want to wind up in a puddle of tears typing this. I will say this has been the most difficult thing I've had to endure in my entire life thus far. I'm a nose breather and inhaling is painful and uncomfortable at times. I have to really immerse myself in something else to get my mind off it. The not knowing when/if this pain and discomfort will all finally heal up and things will feel better physically leaves me on a roller coaster of hopeful moments and then very bad depressing moments. I deeply regret ever having this operation. The longer it draws on, the harder it is to stay positive. With that said, the only question I could really muster for the IC was what is going on with my nose/sinuses?

The answer I received was: 57.5 > 18. Penetrating to Corruption :eek:uch:

Initially the reading seemed terrifying. My nose/sinuses were penetrated and there was corruption?? If I take it literally. Then I dug through other people's readings and my takeaway was that it's a long process with poor beginnings and things turn out well in the end. Or at least that's how it seems. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. My quality of life has been impacted so much over this...

Wow, how awful. So sorry!
I agree that 57.5 - 18 describes a difficult beginning but an ultimate healing, so maybe it's just taking longer than you had anticipated. Or is there something more that needs to be done?
18, btw, does not mean corruption but on the contrary, it means fixing the corruption. So that's a positive.
What does your doctor say?

Why so gloomy?

57.5 → 18 (Managing Decay), Legge:
Shows that with firm correctness there will be good fortune.
All occasion for repentance will disappear, and all his movements will be advantageous.

There may have been no (good) beginning, but there will be a (good) end.
Three days before making any changes, (let him give notice of them);
and three days after, (let him reconsider them).
There will (thus) be good fortune.

Slowly the situation is getting better. Chin up, don't panic :)

rosada,

I'm taking a nose spray ointment and steroid medication twice daily now because there is inflammation. I've been on it for nearly a month and am headed into my second month. I'm not sure what else needs to be done. My follow-up appointment is August 25th. Right now I can hardly smell or taste a thing and figure this is due to the spraying this ointment and steroid in my nose every day. He said I'd be okay.........but it sure doesn't feel like it. ugh.

Thank you, Tim K. I'm doing my best. I am having a weak moment is all. Things are okay then I inhale and it hurts and it's like crap!!

Really sorry you're going through such hardship.

Three days before and three after, combined with the inflammation you mentioned, and something nasty as described by 18, make me think of the need for an antibiotic (usually prescribed for a week, as in, "3 days" to get rid of infection and "3 days" to secure the healing).

Is it possible that you can see your doctor earlier than 25 August? I don't know anything about your particular type of surgery, but being in so much pain, two months later, just doesn't sound right. Again, the 3+3 days mentioned in the line are promising that this is something that can be dealt with. However, there needs to be some action/change (and the spray obviously doesn't work as you said). If I were you I'd press for an early appointment.

diamanda,

The medicine nose spray I'm taking is part steroid and part antibiotic. One is an ointment and the other is powder I mix in a bottle with distilled water to squirt in my nose in the morning and evening.

I just called and left a message requesting an earlier appointment. It's weird how it's only on the right side, which he said the inflammation was worse on that side. When I saw him last, he said there was not an infection, just inflammation. That was mid July, however. I will keep pressing.

Maybe its pretty straight foward? saying something like "What is going on with your nose, is that it has being tru a surgery (penetrating) to fix something that was broken (18)". Or the opposite, that you are having trouble breathing?

Its just an idea of mine, but the 2 triagrams looks even like a nose. I have read that hexagram 29 for example is searching with your hearing, and 57 with your nose, smells. Maybe its stating of troubles with breathing, smelling?

What about changing your question? Since it might be a literal answer, something that you already know.

I asked:

What best to do about the pain and discomfort inside my nose and sinus?

Answer: 39.5 > 15 limping/obstruction to integrity/modesty
line 5 = greatly limping, partners come

Yeah, I'd say it feels like I'm limping along!! When life has become an uphill struggle, it’s wise to fall back to the southwest. What does fall back to the southwest mean?

I found this on cafeausoul dot com:

Line 5 In the midst of the biggest obstructions = friends arrive. Changes to (15) Authenticity. It is normal to feel alone when first pioneering change. Often others don’t understand why you would change the status quo. The closer you come to success, the more it seems opposition and competition become overwhelming. Because others begin to see the importance of what you are building they come to your aid. Getting to this point may have been the greatest challenge you have ever faced but once helpers and supporters rally to your cause the way forward moves towards a successful outcome. If you need help, don’t be too proud to ask for it.

Hmm....perhaps I asked the wrong question.....

I don't know what the southwest refers to, but for sure you need outside intervention ("friend(s)").

And just in case this will ring any bells with you optically, the character for friend is 朋:

*legendary phoenix-like bird

Thank you for that, diamanda.

I finally reached someone at the doctor's office. The woman I spoke with asked the medical assistant what I should do and she said to continue with the nose spray but if it wasn't getting any better to schedule an earlier appt. Well, I went ahead and scheduled an appointment for this coming Monday. But I will be seeing the nurse practitioner and still keep my appt with the doctor for the 25th. Maybe I'm overreacting but this has been a scary experience. But if I am, so be it.

Great news that someone will see you soon! I really hope they manage to do something about the pain - make sure you emphasise it enough to them. When I mentioned antibiotics earlier on I meant the oral form (pills/capsules), they're much more effective than external medication. But anyway, an expert will see you, let's leave it to them to decide what the solution is. Good luck with it all :)
