Hello everyone,

For a several years I have been considering joining a Buddhist Monastery, but different obligations and events seem to continuously prevent me from taking a serious step. I had a solemn calling about this today and in an impulse felt I should just leave everything else behind; I asked the IC how would it look like for me to join and got Hex 58.2.4.5 to 24.

Thunder within the earth:
The image of the Turning Point.
Thus the kings of antiquity closed the passes
At the time of solstice

Life passes by so quickly that I wonder if my opportunity to do this already passed me by.

Please help me on this reading.

Thank you

The Image suggests joining.

Thus the superior man joins with his friends
For discussion and practice.

Taking mistakes (line 4) and disintegrating influences (line 5) as attachments, this also suggests the monastic life, as does closing the passes, that is, meditation. The casting does not suggest to me that it is too late for you to join a monastery, but there are prudential considerations.

I found a local Monastery that allows joining as a Lay-Buddhist for up to six months at a time, but first I needed to make sure that all financial needs were met and that my son was well on track of his college education. Nonetheless, I had to place a halt to all my plans when in September 2013 I was diagnosed with cancer. At this point I am hopeful that things will go well and that I will be healthy enough to follow through with my aspirations.
