in your experience, 58.2 ,is "follow your Fu" or "come to your senses" ?

... or both ? ( the context is what make the difference )

the idle thunder of 17 kind of confuses me.

thoughts ?

I got 58.2 > 17 once when I had asked a professional a question, and then asked Yi if it was okay to act on what he had told me.

In hindsight, it was silly of me to doubt the advice. I think the reading was saying something like, "Yes, of course it's okay; he knows what he's talking about." To him, it was a very simple, straightforward question.

Maybe in this case hex 17 might have been less about the "thunder" and more in the sense of "obedience", or "following"? I was wondering if it was okay to "obey" or "follow" this person's advice, and Yi was assuring me that it was?

A second example of the same reading (slightly icky, sorry) was how best to treat a small wound on my arm that had gotten a bit infected. I thought the important part here was, in the words of Hilary's book, "opening up a clear channel for honest communication." I used antibiotic cream to clear up the infection, and also removed some dead tissue in the center of the wound and around the edges. I continued doing these things until it healed, which it did quite well, and pretty quickly. (Please note that this was a small wound and much less icky than it sounds, lol. I just hadn't done what I should have in the early stages.)

In this example, the "thunder" might be in the sense of what Hilary wrote about the trigram Zhen: "...upheaval and the spark of the new. In old Chinese belief, thunder slept in the earth over winter and erupted from it in spring, awakening living things into new growth. Thunder is our basic drive for renewal...the stimulus that sets things in motion." By removing the dead tissue and the infection, heathy tissue could "communicate" and "renewal" could take place.

Oh wait! I thought I deleted all my email notifications - and I did - but there is such a thing in email as a "Deleted" folder .

So here are a couple lost posts from this thread:

the funny thing is that its about a project that I want to concentrate more on something like a thunder. I have reached to a point that many people go to one direction or another but I feel i need to do it differently. Its more a gut feeling that leads me to that decision. maybe that is the 17 and what the subject of 58.2 has to consider.

i try to understand what the 'company of inferiors' meant to those got this line.

the qualities of the trigrams most of the times help me to understand the reading. It works as a kind of meditation... thinking about the lakes and thunders etc and ta daaa, sometimes the answer comes.

after much thought I think this line , at least in my case, its "follow your Fu"

does not promise that the approach is the right one , per se , but doing what I believe I have to do has more fun...

maybe there is a warning there too, as my enthusiasm might be towards the false direction.. yet its not the end of the world if that happens..

"how to proceed " was a follow up question, after officially opening my draft doc. 2.2> 7 is what i got and i share it here, because i feel it sheds some light to the 58.2 line. Same feeling , imo.

Lisa, your posts ( the one here and the went lost because of the attack) really helped. Thanks a lot !!!!
