Hello everyone.

At times, when I read I Ching and am not sure as to what it means, I come to this forum to to get things clarified. However, I didn't find anything that helped me regarding this exact combination, and I do need some insight, so if anyone feels compelled to comment, I'd be most grateful.

I asked the I Ching - why can't I find a partner?
While asking, I was thinking about sheer bad luck in the last couple of years concerning men and their behavior towards me, and also bad luck in my behavior towards them. Men I like don't like me, men that like me I usually find unattractive or even repugnant, when the attraction happens to be mutual there's always something - either they're in a relationship or they fear one. The statistics are starting to worry me.

The answer I got was, as I mentioned, 59 with 1&2 changing to 42. I'm a bit lost as to the meaning of this answer. I see 59 in itself as finding a way to, let's say, float when there's nothing to grasp. 59.1 tells me to use my resources, 59.2 to grasp - um, whatever's there?

But I don't really find this answer helpful (in this light at least), I've been floating with nothing to grasp for a long time, used my "resources" - which works like a charm until a huge obstacle appears with absolutely no desire to overcome it from the other side... And grasping whatever's there is not really an option, not only for obvious reasons - grasping always ends badly when I try it. I don't grasp, and I don't force people to anything.

I'd appreciate any insight :bows:

The statistics are starting to worry me.

It looks like your thoughts about relationships have solidified to the point where they are written in stone. You expect the bad luck of the last few years to continue. That's what Yi is focusing on, the way we can create our own bad luck sometimes by expecting nothing to turn out right. You are feeling ill-will and hostility when you even think of having another relationship, the assumption being that it would turn out badly. Yi is pointing out that it is your mind that has to change before anything can get better.

Thanks for the insight, ginnie. It's a healthy piece of advice.
Perhaps the message goes - concentrate on the good things... My work, my family, my friends, my hobbies... to disperse my mind.
The second line, in this light, encourages the message of the first - see all that you've got and hold onto it.

42 probably stands as a promise for the future. Quite heartening :)

Thanks again, it's always good to take a walk outside one's own head and get a view from the outside. Now it seems so obvious, but people are always wearing tinted glasses of some sort which bar the view :)
