61.6 > 60 The possible end of a relationship

Hi All,

I've consulted the I Ching regularly in the past when in periods where I needed clarity, but this is my first time posting. I generally use the Wilhelm translation though reference others online.

Some background on my current situation. I am in a long-term relationship with a person I will call "Anne' that has been in a rut for some time now. We have generally different emotional needs that can prove difficult to navigate. We have made some plans to try and help our relationship gets back on its feet, and I was generally happy with these plans but prepared for the eventuality that it may not work. I was in no rush to end things as I care about this person a great deal.

Until I met "Rebecca" through mutual friends. There was a chemistry that was intense and I believe mutual, though in no way discussed for obvious reasons. This threw me for a whirlwind that I am still in. Conflicted on whether I should end things now with Anne right when we are trying to improve things due to the sudden outward pull I am feeling.

So obviously I have consulted the I Ching several times to try and gain some clarity.

My first question: "What is my general situation with Anne and Rebecca?"
Result: 24.1.3 Return > 15 Modesty
My interpretation: A difficult reading. Is it a return to my current relationship which may be healthier than before and I should turn back from the simple allure of something new? Or does it mean I should move forward and the repeated returns are my doubts about leaving at all? Generally, I have taken this to mean the latter.

My second question: "What is my proper action regarding my feelings towards Rebecca?"
Result: 55.1.5 Abundance > 31 Influence
My Interpretation: To me, this seems to be rather straight forward hexagram and an auspicious sign of a potential friendship/relationship

My third question: "What is my proper action regarding my feelings toward Anne?"
Result: 61.6 Inner Truth > 60 Limitation
My Interpretation: This was a difficult one to understand at first, but looking up other questions about this result it would almost feel like the I Ching is laughing at me. "Why even ask this question at all, look for internal truth and you know the answer". Meaning I generally know the time is over I shouldn't stretch this on or I will just bring more painful feelings. "Perseverance brings misfortune" referencing line 6.

If anyone has any insight into these readings it would be greatly appreciated. It is certainly hard for me now to feel I can interpret clearly while in a whirlwind emotionally. Thank you for reading.

I think it's a clear answer you aren't leaving Anne, this thing with Rebecca is just a minor diversion. I see that in 24.1. You will of course go on being plagued about your choices in line 3 but overall there's a sensible option here (15) which you are probably too sensible not to take and that is to stay with Anne. BTW I don't think line 1 is advice it tends to tell you what you will inevitably do which is to return to your usual path.

Well there's a strong influence there and she's someone you needed to meet and it changes you in quite big ways. This would seem to contradict your 24 reading however Rebeccca may have a huge impact on your psyche even though you don't leave Anne.

It's not laughing at you really. Your feelings are sincere and true in 61 and they are big feelings for you, they loom large but by line 6 you have taken your sincere feelings just one step too far until it becomes a bit of a drama, a bit exaggerated, so I think this line is asking you to pull back a bit from your sense of this as a pressing and urgent story and chill out. The cockerel thinks he brings the dawn with his crowing, there's an over reach here so this is a reprimand of a kind but a useful one. I think it's remedy is 15 which you got in the first cast.

In general then you don't need to be in a hurry to do anything. Experience your feelings with Rebecca as important but know they have a limit. I personally don't think you will leave Anne.

This was the interpretation I was looking for. As I mentioned it's been a confusing time and I knew I was not interpreting my readings clearly through a lot of emotions. I need to cool down, take a step back, and let things progress however they may. That is clearly what hexagram 61 is telling me.
