Posting to check my interpretation of this line out of a bundle of readings.

Context:

The Yi has been quite insistent for awhile in my interpretation that I learn to relax, and the job that I seek will take a long time to arrive.
I find my finances getting further and further destabilized with rising cost of living, however. My goals seem light years out of reach.
I feel so useless with the few hours worked at my current care job, with unpleasant characters, and the whole thing being a bit scammy. My client and I get along but the environment is depressing, and toxic.

So I have been "casting around" different ways to make money elsewhere. I have some learning/social disabilities & chronic joint conditions, but a degree, but not a consistent career path. Not many paths are open but I've been looking at ones that are.

For tutoring, and possibly doing training for teaching ESL, received
55.1>62 (seems temporarily an okay idea, not really going to be enough)

For a dangerous and illegal form of work, received
2.1.6> 27 (flash in the pan idea, nix!)

For cleaning job - Ihave much experience with cleaning but stopped due to chronic pain before

63 uc (you're done with this line of work already)

All my experience this far is in care work, such as teaching, cleaning, childcare, disability care. I have wanted for awhile to try something entirely different. Start my own business, sell art, teach art, work in theatre eventually, but for right now just something interesting and new but not too demanding.

Situation:

Well out of the blue! today an email arrived from a greenhouse I'd applied for last year, asking me to join seasonally The pay is low but it's a dream job working with plants, in a warm beautiful environment.... a pretty far drive but I really wouldn't mind. I adore caring for plants and have long wanted to study them more closely.
Asked "show me an image of taking this job at X greenhouse"

Cast 5 uc!

I asked
"clarify what im waiting for with 5?"

And got such an unpleasant reading!
62.3>16

Well that's a warning line if there was any.

I asked
"Where is the danger you are warning me of?"
10.4.5.6> 19

I'm very frustrated but take these readings to sort of spell out that it's still not time to "tread on the Tiger's tail" of work.
Could be because of covid, even, or my health.

I want so badly to take the greenhouse job, but 16 makes me think perhaps my enthusiasm outweighs the experience or health I would need to actually carry out the tasks though.

I could be misinterpreting all this entirely, but 62.3 gives me quite a bit of pause. Perhaps it's not covid but that making a move towards my own independence, or quitting current job, would lead to being backstabbed. By my current employer or my ex who I live with.

Or that I would be that backstabbing sort of figure, abandoning my client to her toxic environment? Some kind of betrayal seems involved.

Paired with 5 uc how would you read this line? Would you say there is some danger in going in for an interview?

I'm very leery of disregarding warnings from Yi as doing so before has led to very unpleasant results.

Thank you in advance for your interpretative perspectives

🙏🙏🙏

What's happened here is you've taken a reading a certain way, in a certain light and then asked more questions on the basis of that understanding, each answer feeding into a spiral of fear and hesitation until you're lost. It's not an uncommon pattern but it really isn't helpful and you have to stand back and be aware there's a point where you're almost feeding yourself with doubt and worry, building neuroses up through Yi.

I think you needed to relax and sit with that 5 and let it sink in. It looks a nice opportunity, if you want it there is no sense in turning it down through a frenzied series of readings. It's also a question of 'what's the worse that can happen?' The worse that can happen is you find it's too far, the pay is too low, you don't like it and leave. That would be okay wouldn't it. It would be far better than not taking the job through readings that you don't understand or don't apply anyway.

So if you stayed with the 5 you can see what a very chilled out hexagram it is. It literally tells you not to worry, you can take your time

'The clouds are above heaven. Waiting.
The noble one eats, drinks and relaxes with music.'

You asked for an image of you doing the job. I'm not fan of the 'give me an image of' question as it's not clear to me what you're asking for? Do you mean you want an image of you working there? I don't know what an image of you taking the job is....however possibly given the question I think Yi may be simply showing you waiting as you waiting now, not having replied yet but knowing what you want is arriving. Also 5 can indicate times of just ordinary life passing by, I've noticed this in many readings so if it were actually an image of you in the job I might see it as quite relaxing, time passing by, everyday life kind of thing. 5 is all the times between events or life dramas really and much of our lives, many of our days are hex 5 days. A day off where you do the laundry and go for a walk is a 5 kind of time. What if this job is like that, it's undramatic, it's life.

So there isn't really any need to take this as an instruction to wait. You have been waiting for this for a long time and it's coming. I wonder if you agree to the job they may simply say it won't start yet, that's all.

So none of the other questions were needed and they may well be a comment on you completely spinning off from 5. You're scaring yourself for no reason.

So if you want to you could agree to their proposal and ask when it starts. I think that would be a good idea. If you ask when you can start and they say not for a while well that's your 5. If things show up you don't like well you can change your mind and turn it down but you really don't want to be turning good things down through Yi readings.

Oh just to say I don't see this as you're done with it but more an affirmation that it's a good route, it's fairly solid. Of course it's not great if you're in pain and also I'm sure you have so many other skills and cleaning is low status/low pay....although I have friends who clean and they dictate the pay in some instances and it's not too bad if it's easy work. Like one friend cleans offices that hardly need cleaning at all. Sometimes one can get lucky with a cleaning job I think. Also despite being hard physical work it's kind of low stress interpersonally I imagine?

Of course I'm not saying go and do that if it's just going to exacerbate your symptoms. I just wanted to say it's possible to see 63uc differently here. I realise as I write that I sat down here to have a rest from cleaning my place which I find utterly exhausting and back breaking. 🙂 I'd always rather write posts on Clarity than clean, it's my escape route

:rofl:cleaning happens to be one of my escape routes, but posting on Clarity or browsing is definitely up there!

And yes, the cleaning job posting I looked at paid well, very low human interaction, it really would be the easiest route of all aside from pain. I could definitely see it as a backup if this greenhouse one ends up not working. A big reason I'm itching to work again is isolation, though. so 63 kind of goes both ways at once, its already decided this would be a reliable position, but I've also already decided I want something else.

And thank you, I do think you are right about feeding worry through Yi.
5 is a very nice hex, and I received it today about another issue I'm worked up over. Kind of a perfect hex for a seasonal job. It wouldn't start til next month anyways.
Perhaps then Yi's final answer with 10, is that I am feeling a sense of danger in going back out into the world, taking a decisive step towards independence/change. But in 10, you don't usually get harmed just beause you tangled with the tiger. I just feel high strung, a bit hypervigilant of getting into another bad situation. Even though yes, I could always just leave if its bad.

With 62.3, the resulting hex 16...overexcitement, maybe Yi was being literal, I am always waiting for the worst outcome, the other shoe to drop.

Well in any case, I emailed them back and await a response :)

As Trojina said, there doesn't seem to be any reason not to at least try it. 5 might even reflect the fact that you applied last year and you've been waiting. My first thought with 62.3 is that it isn't about the job but about you questioning it.

Kestrel (lovely bird btw), I don't have much to add to what these wonderful and experienced moderators said already. Only that H5 is not only "waiting for" is also "waiting for/being needy about an answer" hence unchanging. Many people ascribe this meaning to H4 but no, 5uc does it better. 62.3 reconfirms a "tap behind the head" - it can be literal (from Yi) or can be an advice to pay attention seriously to things. Keep ears, eyes open, 6th sense intuitions on ignite.

P.s. you've chosen to present yourself in this forum as "Kestrel Wings", the smallest of falcons and a bird that hunts prey by looking first, hoovering and plugging down, nearly hunting on the ground.
62 is about a flying bird (LiSe) that "leaves behind its sound: it is not fit above, it is fit below." In human affairs h62 is often about putting one's thoughts, affairs and words in order before taking action (growing within a nested area bf the plunge). I doubt that this coincidence is without meaning: there may be something in the actual techniques of your chosen totem and the image that theYi offered.

this is a beautiful connection, Ana Maria.
you're correct, my username isn't random, kestrel being a name chosen after receiving a guided dream/vision of animal guides. a bit complicated to explain here but it is tied to significant changes and a rebirth in my life, and many hints towards taking birds as my guides (including receiving hex 62 from Yi repeatedly).
i do consider them guides, as birds of prey, they are however small and 'feminine' or decorative in their patterning. good to know more about their hunting habits.
much of Yi's lessons for me do seem to revolve around balancing humility with capability - maybe you are not a dragon, but even small birds have to take a leap eventually.

whether or not 62.3 is advice to be careful and observant or simply a reflection of feeling on high alert, I appreciate everyone's reflections in this thread.

beginning to observe when I am in that needy mode (as you pointed out with hex 5) coming to Yi almost begging for an answer WHAT TO DO, the cast ends up just reflecting the situation back. like "well here's your situation, its always up to you what to do about it"

Or it might be a little simple encouragement: you applied for this some time ago, you've been waiting (at least theoretically), here it is. A little nudge from mama-bird Yi - go on, flap your wings, they'll work just fine.

update:
the job started. wonderful so far, very simple easy work. the people are kind, not exactly "my people" but very relaxed and down to earth, mostly retired or people re-entering the workforce. I just show up, do the work, and make small pleasant chit-chat when necessary.
also worth noting there was a delayed start date of several months.

as for 62.3 - i worked myself up worried silly during orientation about the physical demands, social anxiety was very high. first day on the job it all turned out to be very in my head. they are quite accomodating.

spoke too soon about that 62.3! the Yi works in strange ways.

My phone kicked the bucket last week. Upon getting a new one set up, discovered the manager had called over the weekend and fired me over voicemail due to "production issues" (assume she meant me moving slowly with my joint pain) and "communication problems"- no warnings or discussions. It took me by surprise. I had assumed I was doing well, despite having called out one day.

this changes my understanding of the readings a bit.

Oh sorry to hear that.

But could you have taken the 62.3 as 'don't take the job'? It wouldn't make sense to me to see it as you got 5 because you were waiting to be stabbed in the back.

Interestingly I have had 62.3 for missing calls, it's like your back being turned at the wrong moment. However in your case it doesn't make a difference if she is actually firing you. That is if you had been there to answer the phone the outcome would have been the same presumably. Do you think it's worth trying to have any kind of conversation to be clear about what the problem was?

So yes actually! I phoned back and explained the situation, they talked to HR, and reinstated me with adjusted hours so as to avoid the fatigue problem at the end of the day and clearer expectations around communicating. I feel a bit grumpy being back, as it dug at my ego to go back somewhere willing to fire me over voicemail, but its better than unemployment and going fine again.

Interesting that you've had 62.3 for missing calls! Back being turned at the wrong moment was exactly it. I woke up not feeling well and finding my phone had died, called the main office from someone else's phone and texted one manager the situation. Well! I put the number in wrong! So they tried to call me not knowing the situation with my phone. Just a series of miscommunication.

I don't see 5 as "don't take this job," still makes sense as a very mundane work environment and a sort of waiting on larger goals. But I do see the 62.3 as a warning to watch my back and be alert and careful. I was so pleased with the ease of it all I got lax or assumed certain things were fine, and didn't require explicit clear checking in. Its very common for workplaces to make assumptions of ability or character when a worker is accommodating a disability without explicitly explaining, i.e. using a stool at counter or taking short breaks to stretch means you are lazy, unmotivated, etc.

I see it as a flaw in American low wage work culture as it makes more sense to allow workers to prioritize their wellbeing will lead to steadier production, the emphasis on everyone working at the same breakneck pace just leads to burnout and high turnover rates. But you can't expect a revolution in workplace culture, especially not in right to work states where the rights of the employer trump the workers! (which my manager invoked in the voicemail actually...basically yes we are firing you over a disability but its okay in this state so...)

anyways I digress!

Excellent news!

Yes and it's not only workplaces I think it's everywhere if there is no outward sign of disability. That is if someone sees you standing up and walking they think you're fine whereas you may have a limited capacity to go on standing or walking. It's good that HR now know the reasons you need a stool etc but don't be surprised if you have to go on having to 'explain' to colleagues. If there's no clear outer symbol they just slip back into thinking you are as able as they are.

5uc does manifest in unusual ways - added my own recent example here

I might add this one over there
