It's my 1st post here, and I'll try to be brief. I asked the Oracle if my life will always be in transition. Or,how long? Not really from a particular Home place,(2nationalitys)many moves, disfunctional family issues. Settled(sort of) in a very remote village since a dozen of years. Very restricted financially. I love simplicity, but get 'cabin fever',recieving 62 is interesting. I do not read this as a prediction but the state of mind I'm in. What else can be noted? Any suggestions?

Hi So Songs. Welcome to IC community first of all :) I think you are correct, maybe it's the method that you have employed to combat the transitions, keeping low, away from others, small progress. Real question is, if it is working for you? Other thing is yes/no questions are a bit complicated to interpret, and then you added a second part of "how long?". So two questions in one, makes it harder for the IC to answer. But, it gave you an answer, simple one by the way (hexagram with no changing lines), which is the way you're dealing with it. I would also add, life is always full of changes and transitions, can you really stop them, I hardly think so. Maybe what you're looking for is a stable surroundings, one place to live at and enjoy life. So I would probe at how to get to your ideal surroundings. Anyhow, I'm sure you'll get to that place, just keep probing and good luck.

REPLY to 62 UC - A Transition

I tuned in here because I get 62 a lot. After reading your post, I'd first like to offer my most sincere condolences for your terrible loss. You must be suffering quite a bit. May you be comforted, heal and be restored as quickly as possible. I am an expatriate and have been lead to believe 62 associated with being in transition in that way. But after your post, I'm beginning to wonder if it's not more about fragility, spiritual or emotional fragility and the carefulness that it requires. Most "popular" commentaries on 62are negative. But the traditional commentaries are not so grim. Here are a few:
Shaughnessy: Small Surpassing : Receipt; beneficial to determine; possible for little service, but not possible for great service. The sound left by the flying bird is not proper for ascent but is proper for descent; greatly auspicious.
(GREATLY AUSPICIOUS)

Cleary (1):predominance of the small is developmental, beneficial if correct. It is suitable for a small affair but not for a great one. The call left by a flying bird should not rise but descend. This is very auspicious.
(VERY AUSPICIOUS)

Cleary (2):Small excess turns out all right. It is beneficial to be correct. It is all right for small matters, not for great matters. A flying bird leaves its cry; it should not ascend but descend – then there will be great good fortune.
(GREAT GOOD FORTUNE)

Wu: Excess of the Small indicates pervasiveness and the advantage of being persevering. One may succeed in doing small business, but not big one. Like the lingering sound of a bird flying by, it is not suitable to go upward, but suitable to go downward. Great fortune.
(GREAT FORTUNE)
I think the negative comments one traditionally find on the Internet have to do with the idea of "Small", which is repugnant to most Westerners. Everyone wants to be great, magnificent and to do great things. However traditional text speak differently and indicate "Great Fortune" for those who receive 62. So Small is also auspicious.
I think the idea is that during these difficult periods whether caused by travel or painful loss, we must be very careful and conscientious, eschewing great undertakings but expending abundant energy on small matters as we heal and develop or as the situation evolves.

Hexagram 62. Attention to Detail.
Life is always changing. Perhaps the trick is in how we keep up with the changes. Hexagram 62 cautions that changes should be made in small increments.

When massive change like moves and deaths are forced upon us we can feel it's all too much and will things ever calm down? I think the changes will just keep coming but by keeping our focus on the Details we can control - which at times may be just whether we choose to inhale or exhale - we will survive and even flourish.
